Hola Hivers y miembros de la comunidad @espavlog. Hoy les voy a hacer un tour por uno de los lugares más emblemáticos y naturales de ciudad de La Habana.
Hello Hivers and members of the EspaVlog community. Today I'm going to take you on a tour of one of the most emblematic and natural places in Havana city.
El Parque Almendares o Gran Parque Metropolitano de La Habana fue fundado en 1959. Gracias a su alto valor botánico y paisajístico, está considerado como “el pulmón de la capital cubana”, y única área dentro de la ciudad con la presencia de un bosque urbano que atraviesa los terrenos correspondientes a cuatro de los municipios de La Habana.
The Almendares Park or Gran Parque Metropolitano de La Habana was founded in 1959. Thanks to its high botanical and landscape value, it is considered “the lung of the Cuban capital”, and the only area within the city with the presence of an urban forest that crosses the land corresponding to four of the municipalities of Havana.
Para acceder al parque es necesario cruzar el puente que lleva el nombre del Río Almendares. Este puente separa los municipios Plaza de la Revolución y Playa y está ubicado en la zona de El Vedado. Se puede acceder mediante el uso de las rutas de ómnibus locales: P9, P4, Taxis, o a pié, en dependencia de la ubicación del visitante.
To access the park it is necessary to cross the bridge named after the Almendares River. This bridge separates the municipalities Plaza de la Revolución and Playa and is located in the El Vedado area. It can be accessed by using the local bus routes: P9, P4, Taxis, or on foot, depending on the location of the visitor.
Al llegar al parque el paisaje sorprende, su extensión está marcada por la rivera del Río Almendares, y tiene un área de aproximadamente siete kilómetros. El lugar cuenta con una gran variedad botánica que comprende, especies maderables, frutales y arbustos ornamentales. También, es refugio de muchas especies de animales como aves, mamíferos y reptiles, (incluso vi una ardilla, siendo esta la primera vez que he podido observar este animal en Cuba).
Upon arriving at the park, the landscape surprises, its extension is marked by the banks of the Almendares River, and has an area of approximately seven kilometers. The place has a great botanical variety that includes, timber species, fruit trees and ornamental shrubs. Also, it is a refuge for many species of animals such as birds, mammals and reptiles, (I even saw a squirrel, this being the first time I have been able to observe this animal in Cuba).
La entrada al parque es gratis y cuenta con extensa zonas de césped dónde se puede hacer picnic sin la necesidad de pagar por ello. Además, existen varias instalaciones gastronómicas aunque la oferta en estos momentos no satisface la demanda, y como aspecto negativo, pude ver que a pesar de ser un lugar rodeado de naturaleza, no pude encontrar bebidas naturales, solo refrescos, cervezas y jugos enlatados a muy altos precios (1 coca-cola + 2 jugos = 320 CUP ~3.50 HIVE).
The entrance to the park is free and has extensive grass areas where you can have a picnic without the need to pay for it. In addition, there are several dining facilities although the offer in these moments did not meet the demand, and as a negative aspect, I could see that despite being a place surrounded by nature, I couldn't find natural drinks, only soft drinks, beers and canned juices at very high prices (1 coca-cola + 2 juice = 320 CUP ~3.50 HIVE).
A pesar del inconveniente de la poca oferta gastronómica, el sitio sigue mereciendo totalmente la pena. Si el visitante está buscando escapar del bullicio de la ciudad y contemplar la naturaleza, hacer senderismo, tomar fotografías, o simplemente sentarse en la rivera a contemplar el paisaje o leer un libro; El Parque Almendares, es el sitio ideal.
Despite the inconvenience of the little gastronomic offer, the place is still totally worth it. If the visitor is looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and contemplate nature, go hiking, take pictures, or just sit on the riverside to contemplate the landscape or read a book; The Almendares Park, is the ideal place.
En general me encantó la visita al parque, pero no puedo dejar de señalar que me decepcionó encontrar mucha basura afeando el paisaje. Al parecer, los visitantes no cuentan con una cultura ecológica, y los trabajadores del recinto no exigen que se comporten adecuadamente en cuanto a la limpieza. Las papeleras no faltan, pero por desgracia, la mayoría permanecían vacías, mientras que la basura se acumulaba por el suelo y la rivera del río, que de por sí está bastante contaminado por los vertimientos de la ciudad.
In general I loved the visit to the park, but I can't help but point out that I was disappointed to find a lot of garbage making the landscape ugly. Apparently the visitors do not have an ecological culture, and the workers of the enclosure do not demand that they behave properly in terms of cleanliness. There is no shortage of bins, but unfortunately, most of them remained empty, while garbage accumulated on the ground and the riverbank, which in itself is quite polluted by the city's landfills.
