My Portfolio Beyond Hive: BNB

In fact, this will likely become a short series, because after Ethereum I intend to talk about BNB today and, in the future, probably also about Solana.

So it will be at least 3 posts, unless I decide to dedicate another one to LEO which, in fact, is definitely among the tokens I hold in the biggest quantity (in terms of economic value, not number of tokens).

Over time I’ve managed to accumulate small amounts of tokens other than HIVE, initially taking advantage of free earning opportunities (faucets and “learn to earn” programs like those offered by Coinbase), then staking rewards and similar systems provided by centralized exchanges (such as Binance), and finally on-chain arbitrage and staking.

These small amounts have grown over time—still small, but not so small that they can be completely ignored and dismissed as useless crumbs.

That’s why I always try to make them yield something, hoping that, over the years, between accumulated rewards and potential price increases, their value might become more meaningful.

Among these tokens, BNB is a simple but currently effective example of this straightforward strategy.

BNB

Among the highest market-cap chains is the Binance Smart Chain, which is obviously closely connected to the largest and most well-known exchange in the world, Binance.

This comes with positives—the reputation of the latter also benefits the chain—but also negatives—if Binance were to face problems, it’s easy to imagine those issues extending to the chain as well.

However, I believe that if Binance were to run into trouble, the entire crypto market would feel the impact, and for this reason I’ve always considered the negative aspect less relevant than the positive one.

So I’ve been accumulating a small amount of BNB with the goal of eventually owning 1 full BNB.

For now, I’m relying on a passive method: converting BNB into slisBNB, a liquid-staked form of BNB, and then into asBNB, an additional liquid-staked version that earns further rewards, giving me an annual APR of around 10%.

Obviously this strategy isn’t risk-free—holding a liquid-staked version of a token that is already a liquid-staked version of another isn’t ideal—but it has the advantage of providing solid growth without me having to do almost anything.

In the future, when and if I reach my goal of owning 1 full ETH, I’ll probably redirect part of the arbitrage gains toward BNB, to speed up the accumulation of this token… but for now this setup works for me, and I’m fine just checking in periodically and watching the value of the tokens I hold increase.

Di fatto questa diverrà probabilmente una breve serie, perchè dopo Ethereum intendo oggi parlare di BNB e, in futuro, probabilmente anche di Solana.

Saranno quindi almeno 3 post, a meno di non volerne dedicare un altro anche a LEO che, di fatto, si pone sicuramente tra i token che possiedo in maggior quantità (inteso come valore economico, non numero di token).

Nel tempo infatti sono riuscito ad accumulare piccole quantità anche di token diversi da HIVE, sfruttando inizialmente possibilità di guadagno gratuito (faucet e programmi "learn to earn", come quelli offerti da Coinbase), poi le ricompense da staking e simili messe a disposizione dagli exchange centralizzati (come Binance) ed infine l'arbitraggio e lo staking onchain.

Queste piccole quantità sono nel tempo cresciute, restando sempre piccole ma non così piccole da poter essere totalmente ignorate ed accantonate come inutili briciole.

Per questo cerco sempre di farle fruttare, sperando che, con il passare degli anni, tra le ricompense accumulate ed eventuali aumenti di prezzo il loro valore possa divenire più importante.

Tra questi token BNB è un esempio semplice, ma per ora funzionante di questa strategia così semplice.

Tra le chain a più alta capitalizzazione di mercato c'è infatti la Binance Smart Chain, che è ovviamente strettamente connessa con l'exchange più grande e famoso al mondo, ossia Binance.

Un aspetto che presenta lati positivi - la notorietà del secondo avvantaggia anche la chain - ma anche negativi - se Binance dovesse avere problemi è facile immaginare che questi si estendano anche alla chain.

Tuttavia sono dell'idea che se Binance avesse problemi tutto il mercato crypto ne risentirebbe e, per questa ragione, ho sempre ritenuto questo aspetto negativo meno rilevante di quello positivo.

Ho così accumulato una piccola quantità di BNB con l'obiettivo di arrivare a possedere 1 BNB intero.

Per farlo per ora mi sto affidando ad un metodo passivo, che consiste nel convertire BNB in slisBNB, una forma liquid staked di BNB, e poi questi in asBNB, un'ulteriore forma liquid staked che accumula ulteriori ricompense, garantendomi un APR annuo che si aggira intorno al 10%.

Ovviamente questa strategia non è esente da rischi - detenere una forma liquid staked di un token che già è una versione liquid staked di un altro non è il massimo - ma ha il vantaggio di assicurarmi una buona crescita senza dover fare praticamente nulla.

In futuro, quando e se raggiungeremo il mio obiettivo di possedere 1 ETH intero, probabilmente dirotterò parte dei guadagni derivanti dall'arbitraggio su BNB, così da velocizzare l'accumulo di questo token... ma per ora mi sta bene così e mi posso limitare a controllare periodicamente il valore dei token in mio possesso aumentare.
