To Play or Not To Play? That is The Question
On October 10th of this year, a new entry in one of my all-time favorite video game series was released: Battlefield 6.
Battlefield is an FPS series, similar to the better-known Call of Duty, but with its own unique identity that makes it a very different game — large-scale battles, destructible environments, and a strong focus on teamwork.
I played my first Battlefield around 2005–2006, when Battlefield 2: Modern Combat came out on the legendary PlayStation 2, but my baptism by fire happened in 2011, when I bought Battlefield 3 for the Xbox 360… and that’s when an incredible love for the series blossomed in my heart. It led me to play, later on, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V, and Battlefield 2042, racking up thousands and thousands of hours of playtime over about 10 years.
Then, between work, study, and personal life, I decided — and in part was forced — to stop gaming, keeping only a small slice of time for Play2Earn games like Splinterlands and Gods Unchained, which, besides giving me some fun, seemed to also offer the chance to earn something… which, as time has shown, turned out not to be so true after all. Still, that experience helped me learn to navigate the crypto world a bit better.
Fast forward to today, and from being an avid gamer just a few years ago, I now don’t spend even a single minute on what used to be one of my greatest passions.
Life keeps leaving me with very little free time, and so I’ve gradually had to cut everything out — including the last few Hive Games I was still playing...
...but I miss those carefree days when I could spend my evenings having fun playing one of my favorite games with friends — I feel that more and more.
And the release of Battlefield 6, in a way, seems to push even more in that direction, making me wonder: are those days really gone? And what if I found a way to start playing again?
Of course, asking questions is easy — finding the answers, not so much.
One thing’s for sure, though: I miss having some time during the week to dedicate to something that’s purely for fun, a bit of relaxation — a moment where I don’t have to think only about what I “have” to do.
Honestly, I don’t know if this urge I’m feeling will turn into something real, or if in the end I won’t find an answer that satisfies me… but I can’t deny that, no matter how much time passes or how many years go by, deep down I’ll always be a gamer.

Giocare o Non Giocare? Questo è il Dilemma
Il 10 ottobre di quest'anno è uscito il nuovo titolo di una delle mie serie di videogiochi preferite in assoluto: Battlefield 6.
Battlefield è una serie fps, simile al più noto Call of Duty, ma dotato di una propria identità lo rende un gioco molto diverso, con battaglie su larga scalda, distruttibilità degli ambienti e un focus molto forte sul lavoro di squadra.
Ho giocato il mio primo Battlefield intorno al 2005-2006, quando è uscito Battlefield 2 Modern Combat sulla leggendaria Play Station 2, ma il mio battesimo del fuoco è avvenuto nel 2011, quando ho acquistato Battlefield 3 sulla Xbox 360... e nel mio cuore è sbocciato un amore incredibile per questa saga, che mi ha portato a giocare, in seguito, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1, Battlefield V e Battlefield 2042, accumulando migliaia e migliaia di ore di gioco nell'arco di circa 10 anni.
Poi tra lavoro, studio e vita personale ho deciso - ed in parte dovuto - smettere di giocare, mantenendo solo un piccolo ritaglio di tempo da dedicare ai giochi Play2Earn, come Splinterlands e Gods Unchained, che oltre ad offrirmi un po' di divertimento sembravano potermi consentire anche di ottenere qualche guadagno... cosa che poi il tempo ha in buna parte smentito, ma all'epoca non potevo saperlo e, comunque, l'esperienza maturata mi è servita per imparare a muovermi un po' meglio nel mondo crypto.
Torniamo velocemente ad oggi ed ecco che da accanito videogiocatore quale ero fino a qualche anno fa, adesso non dedico più nemmeno un minuto del mio tempo a quella che sarebbe una delle mie più grandi passioni.
La vita continua infatti a lasciarmi ben poco tempo libero e così ho dovuto via via tagliare tutto, compresi gli ultimi Hive Games a cui stavo giocando...
... ma la mancanza di quei tempi più spensierati in cui la sera potevo divertirmi giocando in compagnia ad uno dei miei giochi preferiti si fa sentire sempre più.
E l'uscita di Battlefield 6, in un certo senso, sembra spingere ancora di più in quella direzione, portandomi a chiedere: ma quei tempi sono davvero andati? E se trovassi il modo di ricominciare a giocare?
Ovviamente porsi domande è facile, mentre trovare le risposte spesso non lo è.
Una cosa è certa però: mi manca avere del tempo durante la settimana da dedicare a qualcosa che sia uno svago, un divertimento, un momento in cui non dover pensare solo a quello che "devo" fare.
Onestamente non so se questa spinta che sento si concretizzerà in qualcosa o se, alla fine, non troverò una risposta che mi soddisfi... ma non posso negare che per quanto i tempo e gli anni passino, io dentro mi sento sempre un gamer.
