Non so se si puo' considerare proprio un viaggio, pero' e' il massimo che posso permettermi mentre sono al lavoro in terra abruzzese.
Solitamente siamo liberi dopo pranzo e qualche prova, diciamo dalle 14 alle 16 oltre al sabato giorno di riposo fino alla sera.

Ho preso il giro, in bicicletta, di spingermi fino alla Torre di Cerrano.
Una mezz'oretta scarsa di pedalata sotto la canicola di questi giorni, ho fatto anche qualche foto di questo luogo medioevale.
La torre di Cerrano e' una delle antiche torri costiere del Regno di Napoli, e' a Pineto proprio di fronte al mare, credo facesse parte di una serie di torri di difesa per avvistamento dei nemici.

Nei luoghi costieri, per secoli, dal mare arrivavano soltanto problemi e quasi mai cose belle.
La torre si trova in una piccola collina a ridosso della battigia.
Si stima che sia stata costruita attorno alla fine del 1400, il nome deriva dal vicino torrente Cerrano.
Dal febbraio 2008 fa parte del consorzio di gestione dell'area marina protetta Torre del Cerrano, praticamente una sorta di parco marino.

Un tempo c'era anche un molo ed una specie di porto, per concessione alla Atri ghibellina da parte di Carlo D'Angio', ora
pero' e' tutto sommerso.
La torre, come dicevo, aveva anche lo scopo di difendere il litorale dagli assalti saraceni, particolarmente diffusi nel secolo 1500, l'Abruzzo si salvo 'dalle devastazioni proprio grazie ad un sistema
di torri come quella del Cerrano.
Peccato che accanto ci passi la ferrovia ma fra i caseggiati ed il mare da qualche parte i treni bisognava pur farli passare.
Comunque davvero un bel posto, tenuto fra l'altro molto bene.

Usually we are free after lunch and some rehearsals, let's say
from 14 to 16 in addition to Saturday rest day until the evening.
I took the ride, by bike, to push myself up to the Tower of
Cerrano.
A scant half hour of pedaling under the heat of these
days, I also took some pictures of this medieval place.
The tower of Cerrano is one of the ancient coastal towers of the Kingdom of
Naples, it's in Pineto just in front of the sea, I think it was part of
a series of defense towers for enemy sighting.
In coastal places, for centuries, they only came from the sea
problems and almost never good things.
The tower is located on a small hill close to the shoreline.
It is estimated that it was built around the end of the 1400s, the name
it derives from the nearby Cerrano stream.
Since February 2008 he has been part of the area management consortium
marine protected Torre del Cerrano, practically a sort of park
marine.
Once upon a time there was also a pier and a sort of port, for
concession to the Ghibelline Atri by Carlo D'Angio', now
but it's all submerged.
The tower, as I said, also had the purpose of defending the coast
by Saracen assaults, particularly widespread in the 1500s,
Abruzzo was saved from devastation thanks to a system
of towers like that of Cerrano.
Too bad that the railway passes next to it but between the blocks of flats and the
sea somewhere the trains had to pass.
However, a really nice place, kept among other things very well.
