Ho aopena finito di leggere una delle saghe più avvincenti che io abbia letto, l'autore è quel genio di Wilbur Smith, tra l'altro un autore che ha scritto una grande quantità di opere durante la sua lunga vita, purtroppo scomparso qualche anno fa. La saga egizia dello scrittore ha riscontrato un grande successo in tutto il mondo, iniziata con il libro Il Dio del Fiume, un'opera davvero molto bella, intensa, mistica e avventurosa, il cui protagonista è Taita uno schiavo dotato di grandi capacità in tante discipline, uno studioso e fedele servitore della dinastia faraonica, un eunuco dalla grandi capacità psichiche che acquista un grande potere spirituale con il passare del tempo fino a diventare un potente mago, affrontando sempre più vicende tribolate che mirano ad annientare l'Egitto.
Non avevo mai letto prima nessuna opera di Smith ed ora sto recuperando molto frettolosamente. Da amante del genere, sto scoprendo la grande abilità dello scrittore nello descrivere i suoi personaggi, sembra quasi di conoscerli, ed alla fine ti ritrovi a tifare per loro durante tutta la narrazione. Nell'ultimo libro Alle fonti del Nilo l'autore innalza Taita al ruolo di vero e proprio mago, e se finora il nemico è stato l'uomo, nel libro il orot affronta una potente maga che minaccia l'Egitto ed il mondo intero.
Difficile davvero stare lontano dai libri di Smith, sono come una calamita e quando hai qualche momento libero il mio pensiero fisso è stato continuare la lettura! Sto già recuperando gli altri libri dell'autore e mi preparo ad una nuova grande avventura!
