Is Hive the New Home for Blockchain Gamers?

in Olio di Balena2 months ago

With the way the gaming scene is developing here on Hive, I feel like I missed out. Although I'm not really a gamer nowadays, I still have this small urge to give it a try again. This time, it would be with blockchain-based games like the ones people are talking about on the platform, such as Splinterlands or MoonKarts. I've been seeing a lot of posts sharing positive experiences about these games, which has definitely piqued my interest.

So, is there really a future for gaming on the blockchain here? Personally, I do believe there is a promising future, especially with how things have been unfolding lately. And I think I know why. The main reason has to be the gaming community on this platform. The success of games here is largely driven by the supportive community. The curation efforts by high-HP Splinterlands accounts are also playing a big role. This has led to impressive engagement levels within their community. There’s a high participation rate in contests and engagement challenges, which is something worth recognizing.

In fact, Hive's gaming scene is considered one of the most active in the crypto space, second only to WAX. With that in mind, and with the way things are progressing, is there a chance that games like Splinterlands could one day reach the same heights as Axie Infinity did a few years ago? Let’s think this through before jumping to conclusions.

First of all, we can agree that Hive users are highly adaptive when it comes to games. They show strong support even during early development. Some games haven’t even launched yet, but users are already buying their in-game assets. That’s how supportive the Hive community is. This is a strong indication that Hive is one of the best places to launch a game. The very nature of this chain makes it a logical choice: near-zero transaction fees, fast processing, and an active, engaged community that supports games from launch to maturity. Splinterlands and MoonKarts are good examples of that.

I’m already familiar with Splinterlands, but I haven’t had the chance to try MoonKarts yet. I plan to check it out in the coming days to see if it’s something I’d enjoy. I also want to explore the Arcade Colony platform and their token. While SPS seems like a solid investment in Hive gaming, as it has proven to be a reliable token to hold or stake, I find myself more inclined to explore newer tokens like Colony.

Is Splinterlands profitable, or is it more for entertainment?

image.png

This was the first question that came to mind when I considered participating in games on this platform. But now, I think that might be the wrong way to approach it. That’s the same mindset many players and investors had during the Axie Infinity boom, which may have contributed to its eventual downfall. The game had a high initial cost, an unsustainable rewards system, and when the token price dropped, so did the game’s profitability. It just wasn’t sustainable.

So to answer the question, I think Splinterlands can be profitable, but only moderately. Its main value lies in entertainment and community engagement. I can’t say for certain whether it will break into the broader play-to-earn market, but I’m hopeful that people will shift their expectations. We’ve learned from Axie Infinity’s flawed model, and we now understand the risks of that kind of approach.

Personally, I feel the gaming style on Hive isn’t trying to replicate the scale or speculative hype that some previous blockchain games chased. Instead, the future of gaming on Hive looks bright because of the strong community support and the smart strategies developers are using. They are taking a safer, more sustainable route, and that’s the key to building long-term success in blockchain gaming.

In the end, Hive’s gaming ecosystem continues to show real potential thanks to its strong community and developer-driven approach. While profitability is a factor, the real value lies in engagement, innovation, and long-term sustainability. As more games emerge, I’m excited to see how this unique blockchain gaming space continues to evolve.

Yeah it is cool to see that our block chain still has that crazy amount of transactions for gaming going on on the daily, if they are all human transactions that I am not sure of ;)

I still think splinterlands has crazy potential for the new games although when stepping in at this moment from zero could be quite challenging to understand how all of it works with the cards and the land and the brawls and everything. It is good there is a new campaign section going on at the moment (and needs to be promoted more!)

Funny how I always forget SPS is on coinmarketcap even...

Absolutely! The daily activity is impressive... even if some aren’t all human 😅.

I agree Splinterlands has huge potential, but the learning curve can be a bit much for newcomers. The new campaign section is a smart move and definitely deserves more promotion. And yes, SPS being on CoinMarketCap or Coingecko still surprises me too!

come on man SPS for the win. splinterlands has survived like two bear markets lol. You won't see that in almost any other crypto game.

Facts! SPS and Splinterlands have really stood the test of time. Will consider SPS too :)

yup there were times where people thought it was over lol. I think they doing great hope they can now attract more newer players

$WINE

Haha, cheers to that! 🍷

We'd all wish so, but it doesn't really seem so yet. Have you heard about this one?

Thanks for the link! Haven't heard of it. Just tried it (as a guest account) and it looks okay :)

Glad to hear that :)

So it seems like a partnership between Splinterlands team also?

Apparently :) I do believe in synergy myself, looking forward to seeing more Hive game collaborations.

In the end maybe what is missing is community for people to chat about all these games, I mean like a inleo but for block chain games haha

Totally agree! A dedicated hub or social layer just for Hive games would be awesome. A kind of “Inleo for gamers” sounds spot on. 😄

Have to make it then

Been seeing the moonkarts posts, I intend to check it out when I have the time

Same here! I keep seeing MoonKarts posts pop up. SO might as well join in right 😄

I've been curious about games like Splinterlands and MoonKarts, but your post made me see how supportive and engaging the community here is.

I’m glad the post gave you a clearer view! The community really does make a big difference... worth checking out for sure!

Hmmm... I noticed this but haven't dive in. Time to take a look.

I heard there's a new one Stakehouse Den to launch this week 😁 might wanna check it too.

There is also Steakhouse Den that is launching it's token rewards later this week:

Hey Max! Because of your participation in the @CryptoCompany community and your participation in the "Banner for Boost" campaign you received a vote from your CryptoCompany and its trail! Thank you & Hive a great day!

Please don't vote on this comment as a thank you, because this comment is not really POB. If you like to thank me for my service & support development of more services, please think about a small HP delegation to @powerpaul or visit my blog & leave a vote on a posting there. Thank you very much!
P.S.: I am thinking about the adapt my marketing funnel. So instead of posting my banners everybody already knows, I thought about to post my last 2 postings from me or the CryptoCompany network. Whatever is written recently...

good info

Thanks so much! Glad you found the info useful!

I have seen so many Games going bankrupt because of the fees.
This can not happen on Hive.
We are fast. We are feeless. We are scalable.
Perfect for blockchaingaming

Hive is definitely not the Blockchain for gamers Hive is actually dying due to the downvoting farming whales 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, the downvote issues are a sore spot for many (including me).

It's so sad to see Hive dying like it is 😂

They keep building on Hive but who are they building for 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

The same old people doing the same old thing 😂

So many people are powering down and moving to blurt

Some are waiting for the price of Hive to rise before they power down and move to blurt
