Hello everyone, how are you today? There's report going on that Nigeria banned twitter account from operating in Nigeria because of hate speech from Nigeria president, General Buhari. I thought it was not true until I couldn't log in to my twitter account and it was painful.
People might think that, it was as a result of Nigeria president's hate speech but unfortunately, it was a camouflage to hide the real reason from masses. It is very glaring that many reasons behind the suspension of twitter in Nigeria.
I was talking with my friends because of the issue and we talked about many things. The Nigeria government knows that twitter is very fast to convey information. The political party in the country are making plans to rig the next coming elections. They are aware that twitter could expose them in no time as any information posted to twitter goes viral. They want a silent job that will not expose any of their secret in the coming elections.
More than 35 million Nigerians has twitter account, therefore, information from twitter easily reach about 130 million Nigerians as twitter is interconnected with other social media such as facebook, instagram and WhatsApp. Hence, there is a fear that twitter could link information that could result to chaos in the country as elite people could easily share the real result of election in some regions which might not be tally with the one the announce in the Media.
Their are people behind this, you could understood how social media exposed some of the politicians in the country during the end Sars protest. Social media have done more good than harm in the area of our government, exposed how they hide covid-19 palliative and deprived the masses from getting the foods.
The issue of twitter suspension is more than just president's hate speech was deleted. They are working toward perfection on how they can carry out rigging successfully without any lopehole.
The youth are really not happy the way things are going on, and they are ready to do anything. The number of unemployment is greatly increase, the number of abandoned projects that the government have paid everything is uncountable, the rate of poverty is exponentially growing and the family that is leaving below 1$ are not encouraging, terrorists and kidnappers everywhere.
The Youths are ready to stand up and fight for their rights. This is a big concern for politicians and some political parties to operate in daylight and steal whatever they want, just like the way they have been done in the past such as rigging election.
