I agree. Solid connections are better than shallow ones. A good customer is much better than one that will leave when things aren't good. They are less likely to leave when things get tough, and they will generally also do some compromises when things are tough.

Indeed, you're right. Shallow connects do not even last, and don't stand the test of time. In most cases, some people just want to build multiple shallow relationships, hoping it'll be more beneficial in the long run.
