That is a neat tool for those lacking fans after the Starbit millionaire change. I don't lack fans so it doesn't apply to me but all the fans do help. However, it does also increase your ego gained.

I've noticed from reading other posts that mission rewards are often different and aside from the ego effect, do you know if the number of fans positively affects the maximum reward that can be earned from each mission?

When I checked it in the past, it did but I am not sure if it does currently. I basically compared my earnings before and after a pack opening session. Also, as fans increase, the ego you get from missions also goes up. It was weird to see drunk fans increase my ego earned.
