I wonder why the opponent fielded one card in the game.. but then it's you've confirmed it's the "one single card" strategy..
I think this strategy can go well or end badly but just like you, I prefer to go for several cards.. when you do the former, you might need to depend on your opponent messing it up, for you to win.

I always go for the most cards possible, especially in low mana cap battles, you can't usually select the really string cars that could survive alone because they cost too much.
