My Progress in Frontier Format & Upgrading Aurelia to Level 3!
In 2025, Splinterlands expanded its Ranked game modes by first introducing Survival Mode (temporarily paused for a rework) and then the Frontier Format.
Before the introduction of the Frontier Format, I played almost exclusively in the Modern Format, which was the only ranked format reserved for human players.
I started playing in the Frontier Format immediately after its release (July 29, 2025), and it quickly became my second favorite format to play and enjoy every day.
In my opinion, the Frontier Format is one of the most interesting additions to the Splinterlands ecosystem because:
- It is a fun and completely free-to-play game mode = a great starting point for new players and a useful onboarding tool for new players.
- It is a game mode for human players only = bots and battle helpers are not allowed.
In the Frontier Format, I started playing in the Bronze leagues and, battle after battle, I made steady progress. Today, I play in the Gold I league, which is the highest league in this format.
The boost that allowed me to speed up my path to the Gold I league was the upgrade to level 2 of Marlai Singariel.
I made this upgrade on September 18, 2025, purchasing two copies of Marlai Singariel for 1227.58 DEC, which was worth $0.89 at the time of my purchase.
Since then, my results have improved, as have my rewards, allowing me to bring all my Foundation Archons to level 2.
My balance between purchases and sales for Foundation cards is positive: I spent 1227.58 DEC and earned 3805.757 DEC.
When I enjoy playing, my main goal is not to make money but to have fun, and for this reason, when I sell cards, I do so with the aim of buying others that may be useful to me in battles.
Today, I decided to buy two copies of Aurelia to get my first level 3 Foundation Archon.
In fact, I only need 2 BCX to upgrade to the maximum level.
To purchase two copies of Aurelia, I spent 1025.509 DEC = $0.599.
I made the purchase from https://monstermarket.io/ to receive a cashback of 24.61 DEC.
After the purchase, I went to the ITEM->CARDS section of Splinterlands and upgraded Aurelia: level 2 -> level 3.
With Aurelia at level 3, I can use:
- common cards (earth and neutral) up to level 4
- rare cards up to level 3
- epic cards up to level 2
- and above all, I can use legendary cards at the maximum level, including my level 2 A'lan Musketeer.
In fact, with Aurelia level 2, I could use A'lan Musketeer with level 1 stats even though I have A'lan Musketeer level 2.
Level 2 A'lan Musketeer is the only card in the Foundation set with an effective attack of 4 points per round, and I think being able to use it at its maximum level will give me a nice advantage in the Frontier Format.
Thanks to Level 3 Aurelia, I can also use:
- Level 4 Mad Gearhead: +1 life point compared to level 3
- Level 4 Wilhelmdale Deputy: +1 attack point compared to level 3
- Level 4 Dire Bear: +1 life point, +1 speed point compared to level 3
- Level 4 New Beluroc Aegis: +1 life point compared to level 3
Now I'm moving from theory to practice to see if Aurelia's upgrade really affects my wins in Frontier.
While writing this post, I played a few battles in Frontier Format.
In the first battle with level 3 Aurelia, I was able to use:
- level 4 Wilhelmdale Deputy instead of level 3.
- level 4 Dire Bear instead of level 3
- level 4 Mad Gearhead instead of level 3
I won the battle in the third turn of Round 8.
In the second battle with Level 3 Aurelia, I was able to use:
- Level 2 A'lan Musketeer instead of Level 1.
- Level 4 Mad Gearhead instead of Level 3
I won the battle in the second turn of Round 7.
In the third battle with level 3 Aurelia, I was able to use:
- level 2 A'lan Musketeer instead of level 1.
This battle clearly shows how useful my upgrade was today.
In fact, my opponent had the same summoner but at a lower level.
If I had used level 1 A'lan Musketeer (1+1 attack points), I would have started at a disadvantage in terms of attack points, while using level 2 A'lan Musketeer (2+2 attack points) put me at an advantage before the battle even started.
With A'lan Musketeer at level 1, I would have lost the battle.
With A'lan Musketeer at level 2, I won the battle in the second turn of Round 4.
After upgrading Aurelia from level 2 to level 3, I played 7 battles.
In 5 battles with level 3 Aurelia, I achieved 5 victories: win rate = 100%
In conclusion, upgrading Aurelia to level 3 proved to be very useful in the Frontier Format, allowing me to make better use of the cards in the Foundation set.

Ho iniziato a giocare nel Frontier Format subito dopo il suo rilascio (29 luglio 2025) ed è diventato fin da subito il mio secondo formato preferito in cui gioco e mi diverto ogni giorno.
Secondo me il Frontier Format è una delle aggiunte più interessanti all'ecosistema di Splinterlands perchè:
- è una modalità di gioco divertente e completamente free-to-play = ottimo punto di partenza per i nuovi giocatori e un utile strumento di onboarding di nuovi giocatori.
- è una modalità di gioco solo per i giocatori umani = i bots e i battle helpers non sono consentiti.
Nel Frontier Format ho iniziato a giocare nelle leghe Bronze e battaglia dopo battaglia ho fatto costanti progressi e oggi gioco nella lega Gold I che è la lega massima di questo formato.
Il Boost che mi ha permesso di velocizzare il mio percorso verso la lega Gold I è stato l'upgrade al livello 2 di Marlai Singariel.
Ho fatto questo upgrade il 18 settembre 2025, ho acquistato due copie di Marlai Singariel spendendo 1227.58 DEC che valevano 0.89$ al momento del mio acquisto.
Da quel momento i miei risultati sono migliorati e sono migliorate anche le mie ricompense che mi hanno permesso di portare tutti i miei Foundation Archons al livello 2.

Con Aurelia di livello 3 posso utilizzare:
- le carte comuni (acqua e neutrali) fino al livello 4
- le carte rare fino al livello 3
- le carte epiche fino al livello 2
- e soprattutto potrò utilizzare le carte leggendarie al livello massimo tra cui il mio A'lan Musketeer di livello 2.
Infatti con Aurelia di livello 2 potevo utilizzare A'lan Musketeer con le statistiche del livello 1 anche se io ho A'lan Musketeer di livello 2.
A'lan Musketeer di livello 2 è l'unica carta del set Foundation con un attacco effettivo di 4 punti per round e penso che poterla utilizzare al massimo livello mi darà un bel vantaggio nel Frontier Format.
Grazie ad Aurelia di livello 3 posso utilizzare:
- Mad Gearhead di livello 4: +1 punto vita rispetto al livello 3
- Wilhelmdale Deputy di livello 4: +1 punto di attacco rispetto al livello 3
- Dire Bear di livello 4: +1 punto vita, + 1 punto velocità rispetto al livello 3
- New Beluroc Aegis di livello 4: +1 punto vita rispetto al livello 3
Ora passo dalla teoria alla pratica per vedere se l’upgrade di Aurelia incide davvero sulle mie vittorie in Frontier.
Contestualmente alla scrittura di questo post ho giocato alcune battaglie nel Frontier Format.
Nella prima battaglia con Aurelia di livello 3 ho potuto usare:
- Wilhelmdale Deputy di livello 4 invece del livello 3.
- Dire Bear di livello 4 invece del livello 3
- Mad Gearhead di livello 4 invece del livello 3
Ho vinto la battaglia al terzo turno del Round 8.
Nella seconda battaglia con Aurelia di livello 3 ho potuto usare:
- A'lan Musketeer di livello 2 invece del livello 1.
- Mad Gearhead di livello 4 invece del livello 3
Ho vinto la battaglia al secondo turno del Round 7.
Nella terza battaglia con Aurelia di livello 3 ho potuto utilizzare:
- A'lan Musketeer di livello 2 invece del livello 1.
Questa battaglia mostra in modo evidente quanto il mio upgrade di oggi è stato utile.
Infatti il mio avversario aveva lo stesso evocatore ma di livello inferiore.
Se avessi utilizzato A'lan Musketeer di livello 1 (1+1 punti di attacco) sarei partito in svantaggio in base ai punti di attacco mentre l'utilizzo di A'lan Musketeer di livello 2 (2+2 punti di attacco) mi ha messo in una situazione di vantaggio pre-battaglia.
Con A'lan Musketeer di livello 1 avrei perso la battaglia.
Con A'lan Musketeer di livello 2 ho vinto la battaglia al secondo turno del Round 4.
Dopo l’upgrade di Aurelia dal livello 2 al livello 3 ho giocato 7 battaglie.
Su 5 battaglie con Aurelia di livello 3 ho ottenuto 5 vittorie: win rate = 100%
In conclusione, l’upgrade di Aurelia al livello 3 si è rivelato molto utile nel Frontier Format, permettendomi di sfruttare meglio le carte del set Foundation.

È la carta migliore che mi sia mai stata data dopo Aurelia, e ho intenzione di farle salire di livello tutte. Immagina quando farai salire di livello il Moschettiere Alan. Sarà fantastico vederlo.
