My Progress in Frontier Format & Upgrading Marlai Singariel and Incessant Sage to Level 3!
In 2025, Splinterlands expanded its Ranked game modes by first introducing Survival Mode (temporarily paused for a rework) and then the Frontier Format.
Before the introduction of the Frontier Format, I played almost exclusively in the Modern Format, which was the only ranked format reserved for human players.
I started playing in the Frontier Format immediately after its release (July 29, 2025), and it quickly became my second favorite format to play and enjoy every day.
In my opinion, the Frontier Format is one of the most interesting additions to the Splinterlands ecosystem because:
- It is a fun and completely free-to-play game mode = a great starting point for new players and a useful onboarding tool for new players.
- It is a game mode for human players only = bots and battle helpers are not allowed.
In this post, I share my progress in Frontier Format and also my recent card sales and purchases with the aim of increasing the battle strength of my Foundation cards.
In all game modes on Splinterlands, summoner (or archon) cards play a very important role because they define the level of cards that can be used in the game.
In Frontier Format, my best progress has come every time I've upgraded the level of summoners that can be used in this format.
In the Frontier Format, I have 5 second-level summoners and 1 third-level summoner (Aurelia).
Since I enjoy playing in this format, I decided to speed up my upgrade goals by purchasing the copies I need to immediately upgrade at least two other summoners of the Foundation set to the third level.
In fact, thanks to the daily rewards from my gaming activity, I only need one more copy to upgrade Marlai Singariel to the third level.
I need two more copies to upgrade Incessant Sage to level 3
Today I purchased 2 copies of Incessant Sage and one copy of Marlai Singariel from the marketplace.
I used https://monstermarket.io/ to purchase the cards.
I spent 683.13 DEC and received a cashback of 16.39 DEC.
I made the two upgrades and now I have three level 3 summoners, which I hope will help me improve my Frontier Format game results.

Now I have a Gold Foil version of a summoner that I won't use in battle because I have the higher-level regular foil version.
I prefer to sell Incessant Sage Gold foil with the aim of using the earnings to buy other cards.
I have put my Incessant Sage Gold foil up for sale at the best purchase offer (Best Bid) on the market: $0.640.
My offer to sell was immediately accepted, and I received 973.14 DEC.
With level 3 Incessant Sage and level 3 Marlai Singariel, I will be able to use level 4 common cards (instead of 3), level 3 rare cards (instead of 2), and maximum level legendary cards (instead of level 1).
This will be a nice advantage for me because I have several water and life element cards at a level that I couldn't use in battle before due to the low level of my summoners, but now I can use them.
In particular, I can now use the neutral legendary card A'lan Musketeer at maximum level with three summoners instead of one, and this card is really useful in battle!
When I upgrade cards, I'm always very curious to see the effects on my battles and my win rate.
In the current season, I've played 240 battles and with 115 wins, my win rate is 47.92%.
I'll compare this win rate with the win rate at the end of the season for an initial assessment.
Today I played my first battles with Level 3 Incessant Sage and Level 3 Marlai Singariel.
In the first battle with Level 3 Incessant Sage, I was able to use:
- Level 4 New Beluroc Aegis instead of Level 3.
- Paprikash level 3 instead of level 2
- A'lan Musketeer level 2 instead of level 1
- Grand Consul Minion level 4 instead of level 3
I didn't win the battle, but I didn't lose it either, and that's definitely progress for me because if I had used level 2 Incessant Sage, I would have lost the battle.
Drawing a battle is better than losing it, and upgrading Incessant Sage allowed me to avoid losing 20 rating points that I would have lost using level 2 Incessant Sage.
Level 3 Marlai Singariel was also very useful to me because in my last gaming session it allowed me to win some battles, including the two battles you can see by clicking on the next two links.
After the two upgrades I showed you in this post, I played 23 battles.

Out of 23 battles, I achieved:
- 10 victories
- 12 defeats
- 1 draw
It wasn't a positive gaming session because my win rate was 45.45%.
But there is still a positive aspect because in three battles where I used level 3 Incessant Sage, I got 1 win, 1 loss, and a draw (win rate = 50%), whereas before I almost always lost battles where I used level 2 Incessant Sage.
I'll conclude this post by showing you a nice surprise I received today when I opened the three chests I received as a reward.
Today I found my first Legendary Card in Gold Foil version: Celestial Guardian
Finding this card was a really nice surprise, especially because with my upgrade today from Incessant Sage level 2 to level 3, I'll be able to use Celestial Guardian at its maximum level, and this card will be particularly useful in battles with the Earthquake rule!

- è una modalità di gioco solo per i giocatori umani = i bots e i battle helpers non sono consentiti.
In questo post condivido i miei progressi nel Frontier Format e anche le mie recenti scelte di vendita e acquisto di carte con l'obiettivo di aumentare la forza in battaglia delle mie Foundation cards.
In tutte le modalità di gioco presenti su Splinterlands le carte di tipo evocatore (o archon) rivestono un ruolo molto importante perchè definiscono il livello delle carte utilizzabili nel gioco.
Nel Frontier Format i miei migliori progressi sono avvenuti ogni volta che ho fatto l'upgrade del livello degli evocatori utilizzabili in questo formato.
Nel Frontier Format ho 5 evocatori di secondo livello e 1 evocatore di terzo livello (Aurelia).
Dato che mi piace giocare in questo formato, ho deciso di velocizzare i miei obiettivi di upgrades acquistando le copie che mi servono per fare l'upgrade immediato al terzo livello di almeno altri due evocatori del set Foundation.
Infatti grazie alle ricompense giornaliere derivanti dalla mia attività di gioco mi manca solo una copia per fare l'upgrade al terzo livello di Marlai Singariel.
Mi mancano due copie per fare l'upgrade al livello 3 di Incessant Sage
Oggi ho acquistato 2 copie di Incessant Sage e una copia di Marlai Singariel dal mercato.

Con Incessant Sage di livello 3 e Marlai Singariel di livello 3 potrò usare carte comuni di livello 4 (invece di 3), carte rare di livello 3 (invece di 2) e carte leggendarie di livello massimo (invece del livello 1).
Questo sarà un bel vantaggio per me perchè ho diverse carte degli elementi water e life ad un livello che prima non potevo utilizzare in battaglia a causa del livello basso dei miei evocatori mentre adesso posso utilizzarle.
In particolare adesso posso utilizzare la carta neutrale legendaria A'lan Musketeer di livello massimo con tre evocatori invece di uno e questa carta è davvero molto utile in battaglia!
Quando faccio degli upgrades delle carte ho sempre molta curiosità nel vedere gli effetti sulle mie battaglie e sul mio win rate.
Nella stagione in corso ho giocato 240 battaglie e con 115 vittorie il mio win rate è del 47.92%.
Confronterò questo win rate con il win rate a fine stagione per un primo riscontro.
Oggi ho giocato le mie prime battaglie con Incessant Sage di livello 3 e Marlai Singariel di livello 3.
Nella prima battaglia con Incessant Sage di livello 3 ho potuto usare:
- New Beluroc Aegis di livello 4 invece del livello 3.
- Paprikash di livello 3 invece del livello 2

Non ho vinto la battaglia ma non l'ho neanche persa e questo è sicuramente un progresso per me perchè se avessi utilizzato Incessant Sage avrei perso la battaglia.
Pareggiare una battaglie è meglio di perderla e l'upgrade di Incessant Sage mi ha permesso di non perdere 20 punti di rating che invece avrei perso utilizzando Incessant Sage di livello 2.
Anche Marlai Singariel di livello 3 mi è stata molto utile perchè nella mia ultima sessione di gioco mi ha permesso di vincere alcune battaglie tra cui le due battaglie che puoi vedere cliccando sui prossimi due link.
Dopo i due upgrades che ti ho mostrato in questo post ho giocato 23 battaglie.

Su 23 battaglie ho ottenuto:
- 10 vittorie
- 12 sconfitte
- 1 pareggio
Non è stata una sessione di gioco positiva perchè il mio win rate è stato del 45.45%.
Ma c'è comunque un aspetto positivo perchè su tre battaglie in cui ho utilizzato Incessant Sage di livello 3 ho ottenuto 1 vittoria, 1 sconfitta e un pareggio (win rate = 50%) mentre prima perdevo quasi sempre le battaglie in cui utilizzavo Incessant Sage di livello 2.
Concludo questo post mostrando una bella sorpresa che ho ricevuto oggi quando ho aperto i tre forzieri che ho ricevuto come ricompensa.
Oggi ho trovato la mia prima Foundation Legendary Card in versione Gold Foil: Celestial Guardian
Trovare questa carta è stata proprio una bella sorpresa anche perchè con il mio upgrade odierno di Incessant Sage dal livello 2 al livello 3 potrò usare Celestial Guardian al massimo livello e questa carta mi sarà particolarmente utile nelle battaglie con la regola Earthquake!
