My Progress in Frontier Format: Playing and Upgrading Cards!
In 2025, Splinterlands expanded its Ranked game modes by first introducing Survival Mode (temporarily paused for a rework) and then the Frontier Format.
Before the introduction of the Frontier Format, I mainly played in the Modern Format.
With the introduction of the Frontier Format in Ranked Play, I now have two favorite formats: Modern Format and Frontier Format.
In this post, I share:
- my recent upgrades of cards that can be used in the Frontier Format.
- my daily gaming activity in the Frontier Format.
Purchasing and upgrading cards
I started playing in Frontier Format on the first day it was released.
In Frontier Format, only cards from the Foundation set can be used. These cards can be purchased and/or rented, or obtained completely free of charge by playing and winning daily rewards.
Thanks to the daily rewards I received while playing and a few targeted purchases of summoner and legendary cards, I built up a card collection that allowed me to progress season after season and gradually improve my ranking in the seasonal Gold Leaderboard.
In fact, less than two months ago (October 15, 2025), my position in the Gold Leaderboard was 684.
Today, December 8, 2025, I am in 221st place on the Gold Leaderboard
The collection of cards I can use in the Frontier Format has an estimated market value of $39.62 and consists of 106 cards = 1210 BCX
In this format, I can use:
- 5 archons (summoners) of level 3
The highest level that summoners in the Foundation set can reach is level four, and I am very close to having my first level four summoner in the Foundation set because I am only missing one copy of Aurelia to upgrade to the highest level.
I could buy a copy of Aurelia and upgrade immediately, but it wouldn't be very useful for me right now because my maximum level legendary cards can be summoned by level 3 archons, and upgrading Aurelia would only allow me to use two cards with better stats, so I wouldn't have a significant advantage in upgrading to the maximum level today.
I'll wait until I have more max-level common, rare, and epic cards before buying copies of the summoners, also because in the meantime I might find copies of the summoners in the Foundation packs that I earn daily by playing.
Today I looked at all the stats of the cards at my disposal to evaluate some possible upgrades for unit cards.
I found a low-cost upgrade for a card that I use in battles, although not very often: Vicious Quilliun.
I have Vicious Quilliun at level 2 and I'm only one BCX short of upgrading to level 3.
In the next image, you can see a battle in which I used a level 2 Vicious Quilliun.
When advancing from level 2 to level 3, Vicious Quilliun increases its melee attack: 1 -> 2
To purchase a copy of Vicious Quilliun, I spent 16.02 DEC = $0.01 and received a cashback of 0.385 DEC.

My Daily Game Activity
In Frontier Format, my daily goal is to win 15 battles in order to receive the maximum daily amount of Foundation Packs and Frontier Entries.
Today, in order to win 15 battles and complete my daily rewards claim, I played 29 battles.

Out of 29 battles played, I achieved:
- 15 victories
- 14 defeats
- win rate: 51.72%
Thanks to the 15 battle victories I achieved in my gaming session, I claimed 3 Foundation Packs and 9 Frontier Entries.
Today, I also had 3 more Foundation Packs that I hadn't opened yet.
I opened 6 Foundation Packs
In the following images, you can see the cards I found.
I conclude this post by sharing my latest and most recent battle that I played in the Frontier Format.
This battle is interesting because it shows how important card selection and positioning are to winning a battle, as my opponent and I used the same summoner and four out of six identical cards, albeit in different positions.
My opponent's decision to use a card without an attack and a card in the last position that was unable to attack were the reasons for his defeat, while my strategy worked and I won the battle.

Acquisti e Potenziamento delle carte
Ho iniziato a giocare nel Frontier Format fin dal primo giorno del suo rilascio.
Nel Frontier Format è possibile usare solo le carte del set Foundation che possono essere acquistate e/o noleggiate oppure possono essere ottenute in modo completamente gratuito giocando e vincendo le ricompense giornaliere.
Grazie alle ricompense giornaliere che ho ricevuto giocando e grazie a qualche acquisto mirato di carte di tipo evocatore e di tipo leggendario ho costruito una collezione di carte che mi ha permesso di fare progressi stagione dopo stagione e di migliorare progressivamente il mio posizionamento nella Gold Leaderboard stagionale.
Infatti meno di 2 mesi fa (15 ottobre 2025) la mia posizione nella Gold Leaderboard era la 684.
Oggi 8 dicembre 2025 sono nella posizione 221 nella Gold Leaderboard
La collezione di carte che posso utilizzare nel Frontier Format ha un valore di mercato stimato di 39.62$ ed è composta da 106 carte = 1210 BCX
In questo formato posso utilizzare:
- 5 archons (evocatori) di livello 3
Il massimo livello raggiungibile dagli evocatori del set Foundation è il quarto livello e io sono molto vicino ad avere il mio primo evocatore del set Foundation di massimo livello perchè mi manca una sola copia di Aurelia per fare l'upgrade al massimo livello.
Potrei acquistare una copia di Aurelia e fare subito questo upgrade ma non sarebbe molto utile per me in questo momento perchè le mie carte leggendarie di massimo livello possono essere evocate dagli archons di livello 3 e l'upgrade di Aurelia mi permetterebbe di utilizzare solo due carte con statistiche migliori e quindi non avrei un vantaggio importante nel fare l'upgrade al massimo livello oggi.
Aspetterò di avere un numero maggiore di carte comuni, rare ed epiche di massimo livello prima di acquistare delle copie degli evocatori anche perchè nel frattempo potrei trovare copie degli evocatori nei Foundation packs che guadagno giornalmente giocando.
Oggi ho guardato tutte le statistiche delle carte a mia disposizione per valutare qualche possibile upgrade delle carte di tipo unità.
Ho trovato un upgrade a basso costo di una carta che uso nelle battaglie anche se non con molta frequenza: Vicious Quilliun.
Io ho Vicious Quilliun di livello 2 e mi manca un solo BCX per fare l'upgrade al livello 3.
Nella prossima immagine puoi vedere una battaglia in cui ho utilizzato Vicious Quilliun di livello 2
Nel passaggio dal livello 2 al livello 3 Vicious Quilliun aumenta il suo attacco da mischia: 1 -> 2

Concludo questo post con la condivisione della mia ultima e più recente battaglia che ho giocato nel Frontier Format.
Questa battaglia è interessante perchè mostra quanto la scelta e il posizionamento delle carte è importante per vincere una battaglia perchè io e il mio avversario abbiamo utilizzato lo stesso evocatore e 4 carte su 6 uguali anche se alcune in posizioni diverse.
La scelta del mio avversario di utilizzare una carta senza attacco e una carta in ultima posizione inabilitata all'attacco sono state le ragioni della sua sconfitta mentre la mia strategia ha funzionato e ho vinto la battaglia.
