My Progress in Frontier Format: Playing and Upgrading Cards!
In 2025, Splinterlands expanded its Ranked game modes by first introducing Survival Mode (temporarily paused for a rework) and then the Frontier Format.
In Ranked Play, my favorite game modes are the Modern Format and the Frontier Format.
In my previous post, I shared my upgrade goals for cards that can be used in the Modern Format.
In this post, I share:
- my recent purchases and upgrades of cards usable in the Frontier Format.
- my daily gaming session in the Frontier Format that began after my latest card upgrades
Purchasing and upgrading cards
In Frontier Format, I play with a card collection consisting of 104 cards = 1017 BCX
In Frontier Format, only cards from the Foundation set can be used, including 5 summoner cards.
In this format, I can use:
- 3 level 3 archons (summoners): Marlai Singariel, Aurelia, and Incessant Sage
- 2 level 2 archons: Barthalamas and Thalgrimore
In the next images, you can see the level of my Foundation unit cards divided by element.
The level of the cards is very important:
- to improve game results
- to climb the seasonal leaderboard rankings.
In the current season, I am in 402nd place in the Gold Leaderboard with a rating score of 2800 points and a win rate of 48.3%.
I really enjoy playing in the Frontier Format, and when I'm having fun playing, I also like to buy some cards to speed up my upgrade goals and improve my game results.
Today, I decided to buy the copies of the cards I need to bring all my summoners to level 3.
For this reason, I purchased:
- 3 copies of Barthalamas
- 2 copies of Thalgrimore
I used https://monstermarket.io/ for the purchase
I spent 936.04 DEC and received a cashback of 22.46 DEC
After purchasing, I completed the two upgrades (level 2 -> level 3) from the Items section of the Splinterlands website.
In Frontier Format with level 3 summoners, you can use maximum level legendary cards.
It's not easy to find legendary cards in daily rewards, so today I also bought some copies of legendary cards in order to make three upgrades.
I purchased:
- 1 BCX of Great Bear Druid
- 1 BCX of Little Sister
- 1 BCX of Giam Root
I spent 721.52 DEC and received a cashback of 17.31 DEC
I made three upgrades to the maximum level of three legendary cards that I often use in battle and which, at a higher level, should be even more useful to me in battles.
When I upgrade cards, I'm always very curious to see what effect they will have on my battles and my win rate.
Today, I started my gaming session with:
- rating: 2800
- rank: 418 (Gold Leaderboard)
- win rate: 48.3%
I played 28 battles

Out of 28 battles played, I achieved:
- 15 victories
- 13 defeats
- win rate: 53.57%
After 28 battles, I achieved the following progress:
- rating: 2800 -> 2940
- rank: 418 -> 311
- win rate: 48.3% -> 49.02%
Even though I only played 28 battles after making the upgrades I showed you in this post, I've already improved my seasonal win rate, which is definitely a positive sign.
In the game session I shared in this post, I used all three legendary cards that I upgraded today.

Thanks to the 15 battle victories I achieved in my gaming session, I claimed 3 Foundation Packs and 9 Frontier Entries
I found 15 cards in the Foundation Packs.
Thanks to the cards I found in the Foundation Packs, I was able to make two more upgrades:
- Kanaaq Miner: level 3 -> level 4
- Vengeful Monk: level 2 -> level 3

Acquisti e Potenziamento delle carte
Nel Frontier Format gioco con una collezione di carte composta da 104 carte = 1017 BCX
Nel Frontier Format è possibile usare solo le carte del set Foundation tra cui 5 carte di tipo evocatore.
In questo formato posso utilizzare:
- 3 archons (evocatori) di livello 3: Marlai Singariel, Aurelia e Incessant Sage
- 2 archons di livello 2: Barthalamas e Thalgrimore
Nelle prossime immagini puoi vedere il livello delle mie carte Foundation di tipo unità divise per elemento.
Il livello delle carte è molto importante:
- per migliorare i risultati di gioco
- per scalare le posizioni nella leaderboard stagionale.
Nella stagione in corso sono al 402° posto nella Gold Leaderboard con un punteggio di rating = 2800 punti e un win rate del 48.3%.
Mi piace molto giocare nel Frontier Format e quando mi diverto a giocare mi piace anche acquistare alcune carte per velocizzare i miei obiettivi di upgrades e per migliorare i miei risultati di gioco.
Oggi ho deciso di acquistare le copie delle carte necessarie per portare tutti i miei evocatori al livello 3.
Per questo motivo ho acquistato:
- 3 copie di Barthalamas
- 2 copie di Thalgrimore
