Ante las dudas en materia de fe
In the face of doubts in matters of faith
Los seres humanos solemos ser incrédulos ante lo que no comprendemos. Es natural que a lo largo de la vida sean recurrentes las dudas, si eso no fuera así cuestionaríamos nuestra capacidad de razonar, de analizar y de emitir opiniones, por eso somos humanos, porque razonamos. Ante fenómenos naturales o hechos que involucran a toda la creación, fácilmente llega las incertidumbres y buscamos explicaciones convincentes para poder creer y así estar tranquilos, estar en paz. Ser escépticos ante lo que no comprendemos es natural.
Human beings are often disbelievers at what we don't understand. It is natural that doubts are recurring throughout life, if that were not the case we would question our ability to reason, analyze and issue opinions, that is why we are human, because we reason. In the face of natural phenomena or facts involving all creation, uncertainties easily arrive and we seek convincing explanations so that we can believe and thus be calm, to be at peace. Being skeptical of what we don't understand is natural.
En el Evangelio de hoy, San Lucas, nos narra un acontecimiento en el cual los discípulos de Jesús estaban reunidos contando sus experiencias cuando se les apareció Jesús resucitado en medio de ellos provocándoles temor porque creían ver un fantasma, ante ese miedo e incertidumbre Jesús los calma al saludarlos: «Paz a vosotros.» e inmediatamente Él les dijo: «¿Por qué os alarmáis?, ¿por qué surgen dudas en vuestro interior? Mirad mis manos y mis pies: soy yo en persona. Palpadme y daos cuenta de que un fantasma no tiene carne y huesos, como veis que yo tengo.» ¿Cuántas veces hemos dudado de la presencia viva de Jesús?, ¿Cuántas veces hemos sido incrédulos transitando por el camino de la fe?... Como escribí en el párrafo anterior, dudar es de humanos y nuestro Señor Jesucristo lo sabe, por esa razón, Él nos ayudará a despejar cuantas dudas surjan en nuestra vida. Él es el camino, la luz, la verdad y la vida... Él vive y nos da la vida eterna, no debemos dudar de su palabra y en caso de que así sea debemos pedirle con humildad que nos aclare todas nuestras incógnitas.
In today's Gospel, Luke tells us of an event in which Jesus' disciples were gathered by recounting their experiences when the risen Jesus appeared to them in their midst, causing them fear because they thought they saw a ghost, in the face of that fear and uncertainty Jesus calmed them down by greeting them: ***"Peace to you." and immediately He said to them, "Why are you alarmed? Why do doubts arise within you? Look at my hands and my feet: it's me in person. Feel and realize that a ghost has no flesh and bones, as you see I have." How many times have we doubted Jesus' living presence, how many times have we been unbelievers transiting the path of faith?... As I wrote in the previous paragraph, doubting is human and our Lord Jesus Christ knows it, for that reason, He will help us clear as many doubts arise in our lives. He is the way, the light, the truth, and the life. He lives and gives us eternal life, we must not doubt his word, and if so we must humbly ask Him to clarify all our unknowns.
Todo cristiano debe creer, debe tener confianza en Dios y en Jesús de Nazaret, jamás perder las esperanzas ni la fe, vivir a plenitud su vida de amor, paz y de oración que lo acerca a la Providencia Divina, a su Señor y Salvador y a su prójimo. En caso de dudas acudir al Espíritu Santo que nos da sabiduría, ciencia, conocimientos y nos ayuda a abrir el entendimiento para comprender las Escrituras.
Every Christian must believe, must have confidence in God and Jesus of Nazareth, never lose hope or faith, live to the full his life of love, peace and prayer that brings him closer to Divine Providence, to his Lord and Savior and to your neighbor. In case of doubts, go to the Holy Spirit who gives us wisdom, science, knowledge and helps us open our understanding to understand the Scriptures.
Lectura del Santo Evangelio según San Lucas (24,35-48):
En aquel tiempo, contaban los discípulos lo que les había pasado por el camino y cómo habían reconocido a Jesús al partir el pan.
Estaban hablando de estas cosas, cuando se presenta Jesús en medio de ellos y les dice: «Paz a vosotros.»
Llenos de miedo por la sorpresa, creían ver un fantasma.
Él les dijo: «¿Por qué os alarmáis?, ¿por qué surgen dudas en vuestro interior? Mirad mis manos y mis pies: soy yo en persona. Palpadme y daos cuenta de que un fantasma no tiene carne y huesos, como veis que yo tengo.»
Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.
Y como no acababan de creer por la alegría, y seguían atónitos, les dijo: «¿Tenéis ahí algo que comer?»
Ellos le ofrecieron un trozo de pez asado. Él lo tomó y comió delante de ellos.
Y les dijo: «Esto es lo que os decía mientras estaba con vosotros: que todo lo escrito en la ley de Moisés y en los profetas y salmos acerca de mí tenía que cumplirse.»
Entonces les abrió el entendimiento para comprender las Escrituras.
Y añadió: «Así estaba escrito: el Mesías padecerá, resucitará de entre los muertos al tercer día, y en su nombre se predicará la conversión y el perdón de los pecados a todos los pueblos, comenzando por Jerusalén. Vosotros sois testigos de esto.»
Reading the Holy Gospel According to Luke (24:35-48):
At that time, the disciples told them what had happened to them along the way and how they had recognized Jesus by leaving the bread.
They were talking about these things, when Jesus introduces himself in their midst and says, "Peace to you."
Full of fear by surprise, they thought they saw a ghost.
He said to them, "Why are you alarmed, why do doubts arise within you? Look at my hands and my feet: it's me in person. Feel and realize that a ghost has no flesh and bones, as you see I have."
That said, he showed them his hands and feet.
And because they had not just believed for joy, and they were still stunned, he said, "Do you have anything there to eat?"
They offered him a piece of roast fish. He took it and ate it in front of them.
And he said to them, "This is what I said to you while I was with you: that everything written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms about me had to be fulfilled."
Then he opened their understanding to understand the scriptures.
He added: "This is how it was written: the Messiah shall suffer, be resurrected from the dead on the third day, and in his name the conversion and forgiveness of sins shall be preached to all peoples, beginning with Jerusalem. You are witnesses to this."
