Or there are those who argue with “according to a recent study by a prestigious university.” For some time now, for the sake of my mental health, I have chosen not to try to convince those who do not want to be convinced. It is one thing to be blind and quite another to not want to see. So, when I encounter these religious fanatics, politicians, and stubborn people, I simply do not argue, I keep quiet, or I walk away. I forgot the "prestigious university" argument, anyway academia is full of propaganda like the rest of media and institutions, so, you're right, it's better to keep quiet and walk away.
