Lately I've been working on my fitness and not necessarily trying to lose weight but the workouts have generally led to that. One of the ways I try to stay fit is through going on rides with my bike.

Earlier today, I did an 8km lap that took me from the Southern part of Kaduna to the Northern part.

The story is that the two parts of Kaduna metropolis is split into two by one long stretch of water that pretty much cuts across the city. So at different parts of the city, there are connecting bridges.

Recently, there was some construction work in my area and it turns out they were adding a new bridge. This bridge that I now dub the Hive bridge also connects Kaduna south to Kaduna North.
I currently reside in Kaduna South and it so happens that my place isn't too far away from the new connecting bridge. So, 8km later, I crossed the bridge, took some dope photos and have a story to tell.

This is actually the first time that I'm actually stopping to just soak in the air and be in the moment while outside. It was mostly fun for me, as I met some other locals in the area and even did a little weight lifting with some fun dudes I saw outside.

After that, I left them and rode back across the bridge and to the gym where I did a bit more exercise. Today I did squats, and some abdomen exercises.

During my time at the Northern side of the bridge though, I found it weird that I was getting a bit more looks than I bargained for. The people could tell that I was not from around there and standing out like that made me uncomfortable.

A part of the reason why I got so many stares is probably because of the sleeveless sports top I wore. The thing is that part of town is predominantly Muslim and people there are a lot more reserved, so that might be part of it.

In any case, I intend to do it again and this time, I'll go an even longer distance down the road. Of course I'll wear a shirt to avoid the stares and if I run into those guys pushing weights, I'll join them, hoping to make more friends in the area.
