My job with Instacart is always leading me somewhere new. Despite living where I live for 30 years, I still see new stuff every single day. Often it'll be as simple as a road I've never been on before. Then other times there are instances where my delivery destination is a stunning piece of property.
Today I wanted to show you one of the coolest places that I've delivered groceries to recently. It was out on Smith Rd in the South Hills area of Charleston. The final turning point was called Saddlecrest Estates. I should have known by the name that it had something to do with horses but didn't realize it until I arrived and was greeted by two beautiful horses roaming around a big fenced-in area.
I didn't get a chance to photograph the horses as I was driving, but I did manage to capture some images of the house and the rest of the property. It made me feel like I had been teleported out of my home state and was someplace entirely new to me. I've been on farms before, but never one this calm and well-kept. I could tell these people were deeply invested in their horses.
The only complaint I had about the place is that their road turned into gravel once you got on their property. I'm not a fan of gravel as I feel it requires too much upkeep and it also makes your tired turn gray and that's no good on a freshly washed car. Luckily though, this gravel path was in great condition and it was as close as you can get to normal asphalt.
The horses were pretty cool, but it was the house that made me decide I needed to start photographing. This place had a dark and rustic vibe to it. The porch was massive and it had some amazing wood floors. The front door was equally as impressive. I didn't see the inside obviously, but I could tell it was probably a continuation of the same vibe. You may also notice gigantic floor-to-ceiling windows at the far right end of the house. I loved the design so much.
I guess that the place is technically called Ranson Farm, but I couldn't find anything about it upon doing some searching online. I guess they are under the radar and most likely just have that sign there for themselves. I did wonder what they do with their horses. Are they breeders? Do they showcase them? Or perhaps they race or give lessons to children. I'll never know probably.
I hope to get the opportunity to deliver to this house again sometime. If not for the amazing views, but also for the great tip that they left me.

Wow, what a beautiful place to live at. Why you haven't shared any photo of horse ?
The horses ran away to where I could not see them as soon as I pulled up on my car. They must have been shy.
They should not shy from a handsome man as you :P
I can not survive there. I am used to dense population.
Really good photos. Thank you for sharing.
I could survive, but I also enjoy living in a city full of people.
A great "outing" (that you are paid for), content for your blog, and a tip... sounds like a good deal!
It doesn’t get much better than that!
I’ve never lived in a city so the country is really all I know. But that is a good piece of property and I hope to have something like it soon!
Owning a place that grand would be a true accomplishment.
This place looks similar to the nearby farm houses on the Northern Great Plain in Hungary. They also have horses, and some of them have cows and other animals too. The nearest farm house is approximately 30 minutes of walk away from the village (Tiszasüly) I currently live in.
Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.
It’s nice to live in areas with farms, especially ones that produce something valuable for the community.
That does look like a nice place :) ... I hope you get to go back sometime!

I would love to have gotten to pet one of horses. They were so big and looked to be in perfect health. Too bad they ran away as soon as I got there.
Maybe next time :) ...
I always love to visit farmhouses. Unfortunately I don't have my own but its dream and Insha'ALLAH I will come true one day. As far as this farmhouse is concerned, this is very amazing to look at and you are very lucky that you visit such places during job. This is another benefit of this job.
Out of the many farmhouses I have visited, this one is probably the coolest.
wow! :) nice place for sure! luv that horse logo!
You know they are official when they take the time to get a custom sign that nobody but them and an occasional guest will see.
😉
A truly remarkable place and building. It looks more beautiful in natural surroundings.
They are lucky to have such a home and property.
what a nice place to disconnect from the city.
It must be pretty great to live at a place like that and still only be 15-20 minutes from the city.
Awww
I actually like the location. It will be very silent and not noisy.
Well done
Keep up the good job
It was silent indeed. Nothing much making a noise up there but a gust of wind.
spacious and beautiful farm neatly arranged, what season is it there now? I see the tree has no leaves
Spring is just beginning here.
That is really a gorgeous house! I guess they are participating on horse racing. Or they have a plan to open the place soon, to showcase and let the people experience riding a horse.
I imagine the inside was immaculate. That or there was horse manure all throughout it 🐎💩
beautiful farm, the view looks great in last two photos
It was a true pleasure to get to walk around this place some.
