One cannot be called a Pinoy (Filipino) without one's love of food - feel free to raise your hands in agreement! (If you disagree, you may not be a Pinoy haha) I mean, it is evident - even imbedded - in our culture. We create events so that we can gather around the table and eat! Right?! What do you think are our fiestas for? To those who are non-Pinoys, here's a quick fact: A fiesta is a celebration in honor of a patron saint. (Loose translation would be a "religious festival" - thanks Google!) What happens in fiestas? Well, the usual "party" - a lot of food, drinks, a lot of talking (chismis) and some singing and dancing, too. This is how the fiestas are currently celebrated in the urban areas. In some rural areas, the fiestas are usually during harvest season and lots of crops are present during meal time! There's a parade to honour the saint/s and people sing songs.

Why am I talking about fiestas? Well because our country is famous for having SO MANY FIESTAS year after year after year! That is because almost every day - some place in the country celebrates their saint - and thus calls for a town/barangay/barrio celebration! This is why the love for food for all Filipinos has been ingrained and explains why a lot of Pinoys love to eat - we like to celebrate! (AND BOY DO WE LOVE TO EAT!)

Recently we had a "little fiesta" of our own at the office - and nope, not for a saint, but two of our team mates got promoted and of course that calls for a celebration! (Double celebration!) Our client bought us a Pinoy Boodle "Bila-o with typical Filipino "party/fiesta/celebration" dishes on it! As you can see, there's pansit canton, pinoy pork barbeque, lumpiang shangai (spring rolls), and chicken cordon bleu! As it was a huge celebration, the common favourite in every Pinoy fiesta was there - seafoods! YUMMM! There were crabs, shrimps, scallops and calamares (squid). This is how Pinoys celebrate - food (A LOT OF) should be at the center of the table!

We gathered together and ate to our hearts content. It was great talking to great people with even greater food. <3

How I wish someone on the team gets promoted soon so that we can eat like this again lol!
