My sister visited the city yesterday for her scheduled check-up with her ENT doctor as she was experiencing minor problems with her throat. It was also a perfect timing that I had been eyeing to visit the viral restaurant near our office, so I decided to bring her with me.
The place is located in C. Rodriguez Street, Cebu City, at the back of Julie's Bakeshop, across Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. It is a small carenderia place but with a slightly fine-dining vibe because of how they plate their dishes. We tried their sizzling scallop sisig, which was a 10/10; very rich in flavor but not overly salty and overwhelming. We also ordered their pan-seared pork ribs, which were an 8/10; slightly salty for my liking, and the sweetness of the marinade is a little bit overwhelming, but the pork ribs are cooked to perfection. Lastly, we had their famous Beef Pares Batchoy—it's a rich, thick-flavored noodle soup made out of beef and other spices topped with pork chicharon, boiled egg, cabbage, green onions, and fried garlic. It was a 7/10; the flavor of the bayleaves was overpowering. We also ordered 3 cups of rice.
The overall experience was really good. I would love to go back there again to try their beef pares with bone marrow. Their service time is also not that long, maybe because there were fewer customers at that time. Although their place is a little bit hot because they don't have any a/c units (but they do have electric fans), so better prepare lots of tissues or bring a fan with you. 😂
