The hill of the Cross in Holguin is a natural elevation of serpentine rocks, with 261 meters of altitude above sea level.
The name derives from the wooden cross that presides over the place and that, according to the legend, was raised and placed for the first time in 1790 by a Franciscan friar with the hope that the periods of drought would end. Since then, the traditional Spanish religious festival, the Romerías de Mayo (May Pilgrimages), was established, and the pilgrimage to the viewpoint was held on May 3 and 4, which lasted until well into the fifties of the twentieth century. From its summit magnificent views of the city of Holguin are observed, and it is said that who has not been there therefore does not really know Holguin.

La loma de la Cruz en Holguín es una elevacion natural de rocas serpentiníticas, con 261 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar.
El nombre deriva de la cruz de madera que preside el lugar y que, cuenta la leyenda, fue subida y colocada por primera vez en 1790 por un fraile franciscano con la esperanza que se acabaran los períodos de sequía. Desde entonces, se instauró la fiesta religiosa-tradicional española, las Romerías de Mayo, celebrándose la peregrinación al mirador los días 3 y 4 de mayo que se prolongaron hasta bien entrada la década de los cincuenta del siglo XX. Desde su cima se observan unas magníficas vistas de la ciudad de Holguín, y se dice que quien no ha estado ahí pues no conoce realmente a Holguín.
