El jueves y el viernes de la semana pasada mi hijo Matías tuvo la oportunidad de participar en la "Copa Páez", en su edición número XIII, esta es una especie de festival deportivo que realizó la Unidad Educativa El Ángel, en el marco de la celebración de sus 25 años, para el cual fueron invitados un total de 14 colegios de la Isla para participar en diferentes disciplinas, y en el caso de Matías, el Ajedrez.
Los chicos estaban organizados por grados, hasta segundo año de secundaria, y el caso de Matías, su categoría estuvo conformada por chicos de 3ero, 4to y 5to año para el desarrollo de las partidas, pero a los efectos de las premiaciones se realizarían por separado, es decir, 3ero, 4to y 5to año por separado.
Esta fue la primera vez que Matías participó en un evento sin que ni yo ni su papá, estuviésemos presentes, de hecho para asistir se trasladó en el transporte que asignó el colegio para el evento, así que salió directamente de la institución con ellos, una experiencia nueva para Mati pues siempre somos nosotros los que lo llevamos y lo acompañamos durante el evento, pero en este caso los padres no podían asistir, aunque el primer día, lo fuimos a buscar al terminar su participación, pues estábamos por la zona y el prefirió regresar con nosotros que en el transporte.
Ese primer día se jugaron 4 rondas de las cuales Matías ganó dos y perdió dos, para el segundo día solo se jugaron tres rondas, de las cuales ganó una, perdió una y en la otra hizo tablas (empate), así que de 7 rondas, que equivalen a 7 puntos, Matías obtuvo 3.5, quedando en el tercer lugar de su categoría (3er año de secundaria), y por supuesto el estaba súper feliz por su participación, aparte que su profesor de educación física lo felicitó por su desempeño, asi que para el fue una jornada satisfactoria, y una experiencia nueva en muchos sentidos, tanto para él como para nosotros como padres.

That first day they played 4 rounds of which Matias won two and lost two, for the second day only three rounds were played, of which he won one, lost one and in the other he made a draw (tie), so out of 7 rounds, which equals 7 points, Matias obtained 3. 5, being in third place in his category (3rd year of high school), and of course he was super happy for his participation, besides his physical education teacher congratulated him for his performance, so for him it was a satisfying day, and a new experience in many ways, both for him and for us as parents.
