Fortín La Trinchera o El Salto
Fue el primer fortín de los cinco, este fue construido alrededor del año 1595 y es el más cercano a Maiquetía, a unos 910 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Estaba construido en una gran hendidura natural de unos 10 metros de ancho por unos 20 metros de profundidad, además, tenía un puente levadizo utilizado para continuar por el camino.
