"Persistence overshadows even talent as the most valuable resource shaping the quality of life."
Tony Robbins
I have heard of Tony Robbins - quite a lot, actually - but I'm not very familiar with who he is and what he does. Still, I can really relate to these words.
I believe success is a very abstracts thing and there are many factors that determine whether someone will be successful, many of which are beyond one's control. Let's be honest, luck plays a major role in that sense and that's why someone once said "it's better to be lucky than to be good", or something along those lines, but the thing is, you can't rely on luck alone. Or at elast, you shouldn't.
And that's where persistence kicks in. Most successful people I know have that one trait in common: they are very persistent and consistent when it comes to achieving their goals. Yes, some started from a better position, some got lucky and made it there faster, but in nearly all cases, persistence was a factor.
I'm not saying that persistence alone will get you anything but it will definitely put you on track. Persistency and consistency will get you far.
