THE LONG NECK TRIBE
The picture was taken in Inle Lake , Myanmar. Kayan tribe is the long neck tribe that originally come from Myanmar . According to SOURCE. in 1980s the clashes between Myanmar military regime and several ethnic including the long neck tribe fled to another country especially at Thailand as refuge.
According the legend , they reason they put that brace on their neck is to avoid the tiger attacking their joint especially at their neck. The other legend say that the girl is prettier if they have longer neck. The brass is so heavy , one set of it can reach more than 5 kg. Im was lucky to get the opportunity to take their picture when they were making the woven fabric . They was so friendly and giving us genuine smile . They also enjoy for being photograph and they do a lot of post so we can get better picture of them.
This is some series photo of the Kayan tribe which i take that time. I hope you love those picture and thanks for joining me in our virtual visit in this post. See you in next post.

Yeah, I see some kid still continue this tradition. I has take some picture of kid continue it in Thailand
I saw x-rays of such a neck a long time ago. These circles push down the ribs and shoulders, making it look like a long neck
Their bronze necklaces is indeed so heavy . It even can reach 20kg . Just imagine bringing 20kg + as their necklace every second.
From my point of view, this is an unthinkable thing. But as I already wrote, traditions are binding and it takes a long time for a new tradition to appear.
