When you see a dam looking good in Nigeria, do not dive in. The water might look so neat and tempting, but there could be some things in it. Well, Nigeria used to be a pleasant place to live. I remember back in 1995, the rate of crime in Nigeria was extremely low and there were no terror attacks much then. The common crimes were robbery and a few kidnappings for ritual killing. It wasn’t a thing that was too scary then because the rate was extremely low.
The issues started during the reign of the previous president because of some opposition trying to bring down his government and because he is a soft person; he gave up the seat of the president to the current president. President Buhari is 7 years in office and his tenure will expire in 1 year, but the 7 years have been horrible. The rate of crime increased exponentially. More Ritual killing, a high rate of kidnapping, terrorist attacks, tribal attacks, and thousands dying every day. I made a post that I held a shotgun some weeks ago. We used to hike Saturdays and it will be stupid to enter any forest or mountain without putting security in mind.
I was scrolling my photos, and I saw the photos we took at the Suleja Dam (A city close to the capital city). We went there for a picnic. Then some people stepped down to the dam. The water looked so clean and attractive. I also stepped down there, but I did not swim. People swam and enjoyed the cool water, but after they saw maggots stuck to their skin. It was a horrible experience for them. I could not fathom how maggot would be in the water without a dead body in it. So, that dam might probably have dead bodies, human or not, but something caused the maggots.
It was a good and bad experience for everybody.
