Today I want to share with you a little history and the wonderful view that Bacunayagua viewpoint offers.
The Bacunayagua Bridge is a Cuban bridge, which allows the Vía Blanca to cross the Yumuri Valley. It is located 18 km west of the city of Matanzas, with just over 314 meters in length and 103 meters in height. It is the longest and highest bridge on the entire island and thanks to its marvelous height you will be able to observe the wild landscape of this region from a bird's eye view.
For its construction, ingenious and daring alternatives were sought due to the conditions of the terrain on which it is built, one of these is the use for the first time in Cuba of semi-arches, according to the technique of the Austrian engineer Josef Melan, who was the inventor of " Melan system", method for the construction of reinforced bridges, considered one of the seven wonders of Cuban civil engineering.
To the south of the bridge you can see the Yumurí Valley, to the north the bed and mouth of a mighty river and a little further away the sea.
Currently there is a viewpoint in the western area of the bridge where you can see both its architecture and the vegetation and fauna in the areas surrounding it. It is a nice place to stop, take photos and drink a piña colada.
With a category of 4 points as an average of places to visit in Cuba, the Tripadvisor website lists it in its comments as a place where you will have a spectacular view that will surely impress you.

Hola amigas y amigos de esta comunidad!. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un poco de historia y la maravillosa vista que ofrece El Mirador de Bacunayagua.
El Puente de Bacunayagua es un puente cubano, que permite a la Vía Blanca cruzar el Valle de Yumuri. Esta ubicado a 18 km al oeste de la ciudad de Matanzas, con algo más de 314 metros de longitud y 103 de altura. Es el puente más largo y alto de toda la isla y gracias a su portentosa altura que podrás observar a vista de pájaro el salvaje paisaje de esta región.
Para su construcción se buscaron ingeniosas y atrevidas alternativas debido a las condiciones del terreno sobre el que se erige, una de estas la constituye el uso por primera vez en Cuba de semiarcos, según la técnica del ingeniero austríaco Josef Melan, que fue inventor de "sistema de Melan", método para la construcción de puentes reforzados, considerado una de las siete maravillas de la ingeniería civil cubana.
Al sur del puente se puede divisar el Valle de Yumurí, al norte el lecho y la desembocadura de un caudaloso río y un poco más lejano el mar.
En la actualidad existe un mirador en la zona Oeste del puente donde se puede apreciar tanto la arquitectura de este como la vegetación y la fauna en las zonas que lo rodean. Es un bonito lugar para hacer una parada, tomarse fotos y beber una piña colada.
Con una categoría de 4 puntos como promedio de los lugares para visitar en Cuba la página web Tripadvisor lo cataloga en sus comentarios como un lugar donde tendrás una vista espectacular que seguro te impresionará.
