Surely you have seen on TV the program of compulsive accumulators, which are these people who suffer from a behavioral disorder that does not allow them to throw anything away and are accumulating garbage and an abysmal amount of things that they do not need to the point of running out of space in the house and representing a health risk to others and themselves; this is known as Diogenes Syndrome.

This is known as Diogenes Syndrome. This happens in the digital world, we accumulate an incredible amount of files that we do not notice because we do not see them physically and when we realize we have thousands of spam emails, thousands of photographs that we will never look at, applications, courses, memes, gifs, videos and you stop counting, we are sure that even the computer trash is full of garbage and the worst thing is that it costs us and we refuse to get rid of these files even if they are useless and we will never use them again.

Do you suffer from digital diogenes syndrome?

Let's do an exercise

Do you have files in the computer trash ?
Do you have a lot of repeated, blurry or out-of-focus photos?
Do you use all the apps you have installed on your phone?
Do you have items in your spam folder or email trash?
What's the first thing you think of when your phone says memory full?

With the huge advances that technology is giving us, we tend to buy more and more electronic devices and download everything that appears on the screen. After all, it only takes one click and since we can't physically see all the space it occupies, we don't worry until the device says the terrifying phrase "MEMORY FULL".

This syndrome becomes a real problem when the person feels afraid of deleting any file thinking that he will need it in the future, he starts buying storage devices; hard disks, memories and sometimes he tries to solve it by hiring space in the cloud to keep on saving more and more content, even spending considerable amounts of money, all with the purpose of not getting rid of anything.

## Tips to avoid Digital Diogenes Syndrome

Use the cell phone cleaning mode. Most mobile phones have an application or function to free up space and delete those applications that we have forgotten, use it to improve the performance of your mobile device.

Delete unnecessary photos. Whenever we take pictures, we usually take a lot of them and in the end we like a few. Immediately delete the ones you don't like and the ones that were blurred. This means you don't have to do it anymore.

Chats. Regularly delete old conversations, remove gifs, memes, images, videos that usually pass through the whatsapp and telegram groups. Remember to include the screenshots folder that we usually use to send some proof but then they are not useful.

Apps. Check carefully all the applications you have installed on your phone and delete the ones you don't use, be honest with yourself, it's okay not to have all the applications that are in fashion.

Regularly clean out your email folders, delete all those promotions, job offers, the spam folder, the drafts you never sent, unsubscribe from subscriptions that no longer interest you, no regrets

Now go to the computer and do the same, empty the recycle bin, delete photos, programs, movies, pictures and all that stuff you won't be using anymore.

Take into account these tips, I assure you that you will even be able to sleep better and your mobile will thank you for it.
