Welcome back! Let’s continue with the bass guitar lessons (Part 5). Today we are going to learn some basic patterns suitable to play Merengue.
You may practice with the tones you prefer as long as you follow the suggested patterns.

Puedes practicar con los tonos que prefieras siempre que sigas los patrones sugeridos.
Variation 1 / Variación 1
Let’s play the base tone (first tone) accompanied with its 5th tone. For example, if you are playing C then accompany it with G.
As we have learned, the 5th tone may be located on the immediate string below the base tone 2, frets forward.
Toquemos el tono base (primera) acompañado de su quinta. Por ejemplo, si estás tocando DO, entonces acompáñalo con SOL.
Como hemos aprendido, la quinta se puede ubicar en la cuerda inmediata debajo del tono base, 2 trastes hacia adelante.
Variation 2 / Variación 2
In this variation we play the base tone (first tone) accompanied with its 5th tone and the 8th tone, located below the 5th tone, same fret.
For example, if you are playing C then accompany it with G and C (higher).
En esta variación, tocamos el tono base (primera) acompañado de su quinta y la octava, ubicado debajo de la quinta, mismo traste.
Por ejemplo, si estás tocando DO, entonces acompáñalo con SOL y DO (una octava más alta).
