One of the marketing policies that has brought us the most hope from governance has been the investment in sponsoring events to promote our blockchain. As it is, I would never have imagined that a series of isolated events would set us on the road to something seemingly fortuitous. Needless to say, we have attended many, many events where HIVE has been a sponsor or meet-ups where we have met hivers in person. However, the one we recall in this post will always occupy a special place.
And our introduction to remembrance is based on an initiative from the BuzzParty Meet Hive! community, which invites us to share a post with images, to remember that or those special events where HIVE was the center of the meeting. I rarely participate in initiatives, however, this is a contest where a delegation of 1500 HP (Hive power) is offered for two months, something that we can not miss to participate.

Una de las políticas de marketing que más nos ha traído esperanza de parte de la gobernanza, ha sido la inversión en el patrocinio de eventos para promocionar nuestra cadena de bloques. Así las cosas, jamás habría imaginado que una serie de hechos aislados, nos pondrían en camino hacia algo en apariencia fortuito. Demás está decir que hemos asistido a muchísimos eventos donde HIVE ha sido sponsor o meet-ups donde hemos conocido hivers personalmente. Sin embargo, el que rememoramos en éste post ocupará siempre un lugar especial.
Y nuestra introducción al recuerdo está fundamentada en una iniciativa de la comunidad BuzzParty Meet Hive! La cual nos invita a compartir una publicación con imágenes, para recordar aquel o aquellos eventos especiales donde HIVE fue el centro del encuentro. Soy de poco participar en iniciativas, sin embargo, ésta es un concurso donde se ofrece una delegación de 1500 HP (Hive power) por dos meses, algo que no podemos desaprovechar en participar.
In February of this year I had gone to my country's immigration office to get my passport renewed, which had expired at the end of last year. As I was leaving the parking lot, I received a call from @arlettemsalase to ask me if I had the document to travel up to date. I took a photo of my passport and sent it to her via Whatsapp messaging to show that I was picking up my passport at that very moment. Something foreboding? We will never know, but my companion told me that we would be traveling to Peru in June.
And so it was when on June 5 we left from the International Airport "Simon Bolivar" in Maiquetia, bound for Lima with a stopover in Panama City. The idea was to represent HIVE at the BlockchainCon LATAM 2023, who had paid the sponsorship of the event where we would have a stand, in order to promote our proprietary community. My partner was also going to be the speaker of the event and my role was to support her in networking. We were assisted by four hivers, residents of Lima, for the attention of the public at the booth.

En febrero de éste año me había presentado en la dirección de extranjería de mi país, con el fin de buscar mi pasaporte renovado, el cual había vencido a fines del año pasado. Cuando iba saliendo del estacionamiento, recibí una llamada de @arlettemsalase para preguntarme si tenía el documento para viajar al día. Saqué una foto del pasaporte y se la envié por mensajería de Whatsapp para demostrar que en ese mismo instante estaba retirando el pasaporte. ¿Algo premonitorio? Nunca lo sabremos, pero mi compañera me dijo que viajaríamos a Perú en Junio.
Y fue así cuando el 5 de Junio salíamos desde el Aeropuerto Internacional "Simón Bolívar" en Maiquetía, con rumbo a Lima haciendo escala en Ciudad de Panamá. La idea era representar a HIVE en la BlockchainCon LATAM 2023, quien había pagado el patrocinio del evento donde tendríamos un stand, con el fin de promover nuestra comunidad propietaria. Mi compañera iba a ser, además la speaker del evento y mis funciones era apoyarla en el networking. Nos ayudamos con cuatro hivers residentes de Lima, para la atención del público en el stand.
The night before the event started we went out to walk around Lima and the cold was not normal. As it was, Arlette got sick to the point that she could not stand up because the discomfort was so strong. Even so, the day the event started she knew the size of the commitment and in that state she got dressed to go to give the talk. But the organization of the event was not adequate and we entered two and a half hours after the agreed time. That delayed all the talks and ours was postponed to the next day.
Late in the evening, my partner called me into the room and told me that I would have to give the talk for her. She was feeling too ill and could not deliver addressing an audience in that state. She handed us the drafts of her script to study and when I read them, I realized that she basically mastered the knowledge about our technology. The presentation sheets were edited with my data and the next day we delivered them to the event organizers, with the respective notice about our incidental participation.

La noche antes de comenzar el evento salimos a recorrer Lima y el frío no fue normal. Así las cosas, Arlette enfermó al punto de que no podía estar de pie porque el malestar era muy fuerte. Aún así, el día que comenzó el evento ella sabía el tamaño del compromiso y en ese estado se vistió para ir a dar la charla. Pero la organización del evento no fue la adecuada y entramos dos horas y media después del tiempo acordado. Eso atrasó todas las charlas y la nuestra la aplazaron para el día siguiente.
Entrada la noche, mi compañera me llamó a la habitación y me dijo que yo tendría que dar la charla por ella. Se sentía demasiado mal y no podía cumplir dirigiéndose a un auditorio en ese estado. Nos entregó los borradores de su guión para que los estudiara y cuando los leí, me dí cuenta que, básicamente, dominaba el conocimiento sobre nuestra tecnología. Las láminas de la presentación fueron editadas con mis datos y al día siguiente las entregamos a la organización del evento, con la noticia respectiva sobre nuestra participación incidental.
At the scheduled time for our talk, we were introduced by the moderator of Andino DAO and with the confidence gained from years of practice speaking to auditoriums full of sales forces, we set about the task of arguing before an unknown audience, but eager to know about our ecosystem, the benefits and advantages offered to anyone wishing to build on HIVE. At the beginning of the talk, we stopped the audience from their seats in order to make them aware of what they were about to hear, the reason? Lunch was barely over because it was 2:30 pm. The room erupted in applause when I finished and many years of sacrifices made sense at that moment.
The result of our participation was press interest and the folks at Cointelegraph wrote an article as a result of our talk. I don't know if, in the future, a similar situation awaits us. What we do know is that HIVE came out well and better represented at BlockchainCon LATAM 2023, held at the Lima Convention Center, the Peruvian capital. We will never forget it.

A la hora pautada para nuestra charla, nos presentó el moderador de Andino DAO y con la confianza recibida por años de práctica hablando con auditorios llenos por fuerzas de ventas, no dimos a la tarea de argumentar ante un público desconocido, pero ávido de saber sobre nuestro ecosistema, las bondades y ventajas ofrecidas para quien desee construir sobre HIVE. Al principio de la charla, paramos al público de sus asientos con el fin de hacerlos entrar en conciencia sobre lo que iban a escuchar ¿la razón? El almuerzo apenas había terminado porque eran las 2:30 p.m. La sala estalló en aplausos cuando terminé y muchos años de sacrificios tuvieron sentido en ese momento.
El resultado de nuestra participación fue el interés de la prensa y la gente de Cointelegraph escribió un artículo como consecuencia de nuestra charla. No sé si, en el futuro, nos espere una situación parecida. Lo que sí sabemos es que HIVE salió bien librada y mejor representada en la BlockchainCon LATAM 2023, realizada en el Centro de Convenciones de Lima, la capital peruana. Jamás lo olvidaremos.
