Cada vez que escucho el término “no salgas de tu casa” siento que un montón de termitas me escalan los huesos. Jaja. Pero en serio, es una sensación tan fría e indiferente para mis anteriores costumbres de andar en la calle abrazando a cualquier amistad que se me atravesaba. Ya eso es pasado, y todas esas salidas se han reducido a Facebook o Twitter, o Skype o WhatsApp… todo dentro de las cuatro paredes de tu habitación.
Every time I hear the term "don't leave your house" I feel a lot of termites climb my bones. Haha. But seriously, it is such a cold and indifferent sensation for my previous customs of walking on the street embracing any friendship that crossed my path. That is already past, and all those exits have been reduced to Facebook or Twitter, or Skype or WhatsApp ... all within the four walls of your room.
Soy un trotamundos –Sí, aun me considero un nómada de los pies XD- porque vale, mis piernas parecen tener vida propia y no les gusta permanecer estáticas como las rocas. Entonces, en plena cuarentena, empecé a ver por las redes sociales publicaciones tales como “Mi primera salida en cuarentena” o “Visitando las calles en cuarentena” y además “Diario de una cuarentena: saliendo a las calles” Y yo me dije:
-¿Es en serio? les recomiendan a quedarse en su casa… ¿y ellos salen a grabar a otras personas que al igualmente no se quedan en sus casas? ¡Qué locura! O sea, no tiene sentido ni por el lado que lo mires.
I'm a globetrotter -Yes, I still consider myself a nomad of the feet XD- because ok, my legs seem to have a life of their own and they don't like to remain static like rocks. So, in the middle of the quarantine, I began to see on social networks publications such as "My first quarantined exit" or "Visiting the streets in quarantine" and also "Diary of a quarantine: going out on the streets" And I said to myself:
-Is seriously? They recommend them to stay at home ... and do they go out to record other people who at the same time do not stay at home? What madness! I mean, it doesn't make sense even from the side you look at it.
Así que yo también decidí darme una aventura, pero no se asusten, no iré a las calles porque estaré desobedeciendo y aportando puntos para el coronavirus, y no queremos que ese malvado nos gane la batalla.
So I also decided to have an adventure, but don't panic, I will not go to the streets because I will be disobeying and contributing points for the coronavirus, and we do not want that wicked man to win the battle.
Yo, muy diferente a mis amigos de las redes que buscan, quizás, alentar a romper la cuarentena, decidí visitar el campo trasero de mi casa. Allí no hay gente, sólo plantas y aire puro, y mosquitos e insectos. ¡Pero lo amo! Además mis pies estaban inquietos y quise darle un poco de cariño aunque sea por un solo momento. Activé el modo trotamundos en cuarentena, y, sin romper las reglas de la pandemia, me aventuré por los espacios más allá de mi morada.

Aquí todo es verde, sólo escuchar al viento jugando entre las ramas, susurrando tonadas que hablan de un invierno perfecto para hacer brisas más frías. Los caminos no están del todo cubiertos por el pasto, por lo que el transitar se hace más fácil y acogedor.
Everything here is green, just listening to the wind playing among the branches, whispering tunes that speak of a perfect winter to make cooler breezes. The roads are not completely covered by grass, so the journey becomes easier and more welcoming.
Escuché por ahí el canto de las aves y los grillos, y pensé en lo maravilloso de su inocencia. Ellos pueden andar de aquí allá sin restricciones, más libres de lo que eran antes. Se siente el barbullo de los granos floreados del café, insinuando que esta temporada de cosechas será la mejor de todas.
I heard the song of the birds and the crickets there, and I thought about the wonderfulness of their innocence. They can walk from here to there without restrictions, freer than they were before. You can feel the babbling of the flowered coffee beans, hinting that this harvest season will be the best of all.
La naturaleza respeta cada uno de sus ciclos de vida, muy diferente a nosotros los humanos. Allí entre las ramitas puedes conglomerarte sin miedo alguno, y disfrutar del verdor que rodea tus pupilas. ¡Que tranquilidad! Nada que envidiar al trajín de la ciudad o los centros comerciales. Vale la pena disfrutar de momentos como éste.
Nature respects each of its life cycles, very different from us humans. There among the twigs you can conglomerate without fear, and enjoy the greenery that surrounds your pupils. What tranquility! Nothing to envy to the bustle of the city or the shopping malls. Moments like this are worth enjoying.
Mis pies inquietos siguieron más allá del campo de café, y mucho tiempo después de una caminata de pensamientos sobre las cosas más imposibles del mundo –así es mi imaginación-, me topé con algo maravilloso ¡Una pista de aterrizaje abandonada! Aún pueden apreciarse las señales borrosas de las avionetas en el pavimento; rastros de una antigüedad magníficamente conservada. Aproveché el momento y grabé la imagen con la ayuda de mi teléfono.
My restless feet continued past the coffee field, and long after a walk of thoughts about the most impossible things in the world - that's my imagination - I stumbled upon something wonderful. An abandoned airstrip! You can still see the blurred signs of the planes on the pavement; traces of a superbly preserved antiquity. I took advantage of the moment and recorded the image with the help of my phone.
Continué la marcha, agotado por los metros lejanos que me separaban de mi casa. Decidí, luego de 2 horas cronometradas de caminata, parar el recorrido. Había sido corto, tal vez, pero al menos sentí un alivio a mis deseos de salida. Sin duda fue una travesía reconfortante e inspiradora, especialmente diseñada para renovar esas ideas de escritor que masajean mi imaginación.
I continued walking, exhausted by the distant meters that separated me from my house. I decided, after 2 timed hours of walking, to stop the tour. It had been short, perhaps, but at least I felt a relief to my desire to leave. It was undoubtedly a comforting and inspiring journey, specially designed to renew those writer's ideas that massage my imagination.
No dudo en volver a salir nuevamente al campo, porque he encontrado una alegría que la ciudad antes no me había dado. Sé que se extrañan las amistades y el sonido aullador del tráfico, pero esas cosas pueden esperar. Mientras tanto hay que reinventarse, y buscar métodos para resguardarnos en nuestras casas. Quizás sea difícil, lo sé, pero entre mi salud y el calor de las calles, yo prefiero mil veces mi salud, y además, el cordial sabor del campo.
I do not hesitate to go out into the country again, because I have found a joy that the city had not given me before. I know friendships and the howling sound of traffic are missed, but those things can wait. In the meantime, we must reinvent ourselves and find methods to protect ourselves in our homes. It may be difficult, I know, but between my health and the heat of the streets, I prefer my health a thousand times, and also, the cordial taste of the countryside.
