¡Hola nuevamente querida comunidad! Estuve unos días desconectada debido a que tuve que hacerme cargo de la casa mientras mi mamá no estuvo pero ya regresé y hoy quiero contarles como logré darle un regalo sorpresa a mi mamá y no fallar en el intento.
Hello again dear community! I've been disconnected for a few days because I had to take care of the house while my mom was away but I'm back and today I want to tell you how I managed to give a surprise gift to my mom and not fail in the attempt.
Mi mamá cumplió el mes pasado pero me gustaría compartirles cómo fue mi experiencia para darles una idea de regalo ya que estamos próximos al día de las madres.

My mom's birthday was last month but I would like to share with you how my experience was to give you a gift idea since we are close to Mother's Day.

Estuve desde el mes antes del cumpleaños de mi mamá recolectando poco a poco lo que quería comprarle. En ese tiempo aún no conocía Hive por lo tanto, el ir comprándole las cosas de a poco fue algo complicado porque ella estaba pendiente de todo lo que yo hacía.
I was since the month before my mom's birthday collecting little by little what I wanted to buy her. At that time I didn't know Hive yet, so buying things for her little by little was a bit complicated because she was aware of everything I was doing.
Para comprar sus regalos tuve que ir a Maracaibo, la capital del estado de donde yo vivo y para ello debía cruza el famoso puente sobre el lago. Un día antes le dije a mi mamá que iba a ir para visitar a mi mejor amiga, y ella me decía
— ¿Para que vas a ir? Ve otro día ¿Que vas a hacer allá?
Casi hacía que no fuera pero insistí hasta que logré ir a Maracaibo. Al final tuve que ir al médico para una revisión, así que me dió una excusa más fuerte para que ella finalmente me dejara ir. Sin embargo, me mandó a hacer otras diligencias que alteraban el tiempo que tenía disponible para buscar lo que tenía que comprar para su regalo.
To buy her gifts I had to go to Maracaibo, the capital of the state where I live, and to do so I had to cross the famous bridge over the lake. One day before I told my mom that I was going to visit my best friend, and she said to me
— Why are you going? Go another day, what are you going to do there?
She almost made me not to go but I insisted until I managed to go to Maracaibo. In the end I had to go to the doctor for a check-up, so she gave me a stronger excuse to finally let me go. However, she sent me on other errands that disrupted the time I had available to look for what I had to buy for her gift.
Al pasar el puente me encontré con mi novio que me iba a llevar al médico, de allí iría a sacar efectivo que era uno de los mandados que me había dicho mi madre y lo que me tenía estresada porque mi novio me había dicho que tenía un tiempo para hacer mis cosas hasta que el se desocupara y pudiera llevarme a mi casa.
As I went over the bridge I met my boyfriend who was going to take me to the doctor, from there I would go to get cash which was one of the errands my mother had told me and what had me stressed because my boyfriend had told me I had some time to do my things until he would be free and could take me home.
Llegué al banco y vi una larga cola, pensé «no me dará chance ni siquiera de ir al centro» esperé un rato allí a ver si milagrosamente la fila avanzaba rápido. Un señor salió y dijo que solo daban billetes de baja denominación, de aquellos que ningún transportista acepta.
I got to the bank and saw a long line and thought "he won't even give me a chance to go downtown" I waited there for a while to see if miraculously the line would move fast. A man came out and said that they only gave low denomination bills, the kind that no carrier accepts.
Inmediatamente llamé a mi mamá, yo tenía muchas cosas que hacer para estar esperando y que me dieran billetes que nadke quería, además de que también quería visitar a mi mejor amiga. Cómo cosa rara mi mamá no respondía. ¿Por qué será que los padres nunca contestan el teléfono cuando necesitamos que lo hagan? Y como se quejan actuando nosotros no lo hacemos. Llamé hasta que después de varios intentos pudo atender.
—Mirá —le digo yo apurada porque tampoco quería tener mucho tiempo el celular afuera y que lo viera todo el mundo. No es que sea de alta gama pero igual hay que cuidarse —lo que están dando son puros billetes de 10 y 20 ¿Que hago? ¿Sigo en la cola?
—¿Eso es lo que están dando? No, si eso no los acepta nadie. No pierdas el tiempo en esa cola.
I immediately called my mom, I had too many things to do to be waiting for them to give me the tickets I wanted, plus I also wanted to visit my best friend. How strange it was that my mom didn't answer, why is it that parents never answer the phone when we need them to? And how come they complain when we don't do it? I called until after several attempts she picked up.
—Look said in a hurry because I didn't want to keep the cell phone outside for too long and have everyone see it. It's not that it's high-end, but you still have to be careful —what they are giving out are only 10 and 20 bills.
—Is that what they are giving? No, if that's what they're giving out, no one will accept it. Don't waste your time in that line.
Con un peso menos en los hombros, sentí otra vez que tenía el tiempo de mi lado. Me despedí, guardé mi teléfono y rápidamente me dirigí a uno de los primeros lugares donde compraría una de las cosas que conformaría el regalo de mi mamá.
With a weight off my shoulders, I felt again that I had time on my side. I said goodbye, put my phone away and quickly headed to one of the first places where I would buy one of the things that would make up my mom's gift.
Primero le conseguí unas cosas de una farmacia que últimamente se ha vuelto popular en las redes por su variedad de productos y nosotros los venezolanos no podemos salir de allí sin siquiera comprarnos un dulcito y es en Farmatodo. Allí le conseguí una crema para el cuerpo hecha por ellos mismos. Y es que sus productos aparte de ser económicos son muy buenos, eso hay que admitirlo.
First I got her some things from a pharmacy that lately has become popular in the networks for its variety of products and we Venezuelans can not leave there without even buying a candy and it is in Farmatodo. There I got a body cream made by them. And their products are not only cheap but also very good, you have to admit it.
Después de allí me dirigí al centro donde le compré 1 perfume que me pareció super económico y revisando otros precios no me pude resistir a comprar algo para mí. Pero eso dañó mi presupuesto y no pude comprarle el otro perfume que le quería obsequiar y el cual era su favorito.
After there I went to the center where I bought her 1 perfume that seemed super cheap and checking other prices I could not resist to buy something for me. But that hurt my budget and I couldn't buy her the other perfume I wanted to give her and which was her favorite.
Frustrada llamé a mi novio diciéndole que ya estaba lista, que podíamos ir donde mi mejor amiga. Cuando él llega por mi, subo y le digo como quien no quiere la cosa si de casualidad tiene para completar lo que yo tenía para comprarle el perfume a mi mamá (es que cuando yo quiero algo no paro hasta conseguirlo y de verdad quería comprarle su perfume favorito) afortunadamente me dijo que si y me dió el dinero, con ello pudimos comprar un perfume perfume para mí mamá, uno para el y otro para mí. Nos fuimos felices y yo satisfecha de que le pude comprar algo que sabía que realmente le gustaría.
Frustrated I called my boyfriend telling him that I was ready, that we could go to my best friend. When he came for me, I went upstairs and asked him if he had enough to complete what I had to buy perfume for my mom (when I want something I don't stop until I get it and I really wanted to buy her favorite perfume) luckily he said yes and gave me the money, so we were able to buy a perfume for my mom, one for him and one for me. We left happy and I was satisfied that I was able to buy her something I knew she would really like.
Al subir al carro le dije que ya podíamos ir donde mi mejor amiga pero desafortunadamente mi novio ya estaba corto de tiempo y había que regresar.
When we got in the car I told him that we could go to my best friend's but unfortunately my boyfriend was already short of time and we had to go back.
Allí concluyó la travesía para la primera parte del regalo, aún faltaba conseguir otras cosas. Ya más cercano a la fecha del cumpleaños de mi mamá le envié a mi tío, quien hace trabajos en madera, para que me regalara una de las cajitas que hizo para armarle el regalo a mi mamá. El aceptó, el detalle estaba en ¿como iba yo a tener la caja sin que mi mamá no sospechara? El no podria traerlo porque ella allí mismo se daría cuenta y le parecería extraña la caja, asi que hablé con mi novio para que me acompañara y así de paso le presentaba otros miembros de mi familia.
That was the end of the journey for the first part of the gift, we still had to get other things. Closer to my mom's birthday I sent my uncle, who does woodwork, to give me one of the little boxes he made to make the gift for my mom. He accepted, but how could I have the box without my mom suspecting? He couldn't bring it because she would notice it right there and she would find the box strange, so I talked to my boyfriend to go with me and that way I could introduce him to other members of my family.
Para ir donde mi tío, mi novio se tuvo que quedar en mi casa para salir temprano al otro día y conseguir una cola, o aventón como también se le conoce, para llegar a la casa de mi familia. Se supone que el madrugar era para conseguir una cola del transporte de la alcaldía que busca a los trabajadores por esos lados pero al llegar a la parada y ver qué no había ningún movimiento nos hizo sospechar que el transporte no pasaría.
To go to my uncle's, my boyfriend had to stay at my house so he could leave early the next day and get a ride to my family's house. We were supposed to get up early to get a queue for the transportation of the mayor's office that looks for the workers in those parts, but when we arrived at the stop and saw that there was no movement, we suspected that the transportation would not pass.
Salió el sol y aún seguíamos esperando. Cuando veo que empieza a llegar trabajadores de la alcaldía les pregunto si el transporte pasará, pero para mí sorpresa ese día no trabajaba por falta de combustible. Además de que en las mañana su ruta de recolección es por otro lado, no por donde nosotros nos encontrábamos esperando. Al final tuvimos que agarrar una cola/aventón por otro lado, afortunadamente la conseguimos rápido y pudimos llegar dónde mi tío. Estuvimos un rato allí hablando y pasando el rato hasta que fue hora de regresar.
The sun came out and we were still waiting. When I see that workers from the mayor's office start to arrive I ask them if the transport will pass, but to my surprise they were not working that day due to lack of fuel. In addition to the fact that in the morning their collection route is somewhere else, not where we were waiting. In the end we had to take a queue from another side, fortunately we got it fast and we could get to my uncle's place. We hung out there for a while talking and hanging out until it was time to head back.
Para regresar a casa conseguimos otra cola y para beneficio de mi novio pasaba por su casa así que yo me quedé en una tienda para comprar lo que faltaba para el regalo de mi mamá, mientras que el seguía su camino hasta su casa. Cuando entro al local y voy a pagar mis cosas recordé que antes de salir de la casa le entregué mi tarjeta a mi novio y él estuvo tío el día con ella y a mí se me olvidó pedírsela de regreso antes de bajarme del bus, por lo tanto estaba en una tienda, ya con lo que iba a comprar en mano y no tenía mi tarjeta. Intenté pagar a través de transferencia pero tampoco tenía saldo, le pedí el teléfono a la vendedora y por lo menos pude pagar a través de allí, pero al ir a otra tienda y comprar el último producto que hacía falta no hubo manera que pudiese entrar a la página y pagar, tuve que dejar eso para el día siguiente.
To get back home we got another line and for the benefit of my boyfriend I was passing by his house so I stayed at a store to buy what was missing for my mom's gift, while he continued on his way home. When I entered the store and went to pay for my things I remembered that before leaving the house I gave my card to my boyfriend and he had been there all day with it and I forgot to ask him for it before getting off the bus, so I was in a store, already with what I was going to buy in hand and I didn't have my card. I tried to pay by bank transfer but I didn't have any credit either, I asked the saleswoman for her phone number and at least I was able to pay through there, but when I went to another store and bought the last product I needed there was no way I could enter the page and pay, I had to leave that for the next day.
Al otro día mi novio tuvo que venír a pie desde su casa hasta la mía solo para darme la tarjeta y además, aproveché para que el me acompañara a terminar de comprar las cosas que me faltaban.
The next day my boyfriend had to walk from his house to mine just to give me the card and also, I took the opportunity for him to accompany me to finish buying the things I was missing.
Ahora, ya con todo comprado, era momento de armar el regalo. Un día antes del cumpleaños de mi mamá, esperé a que fuera de noche para preparar su obsequio. Pero gente, no hubo manera. Estuve hasta las 3 de la madruada esperando que esa mujer se durmiera, pero no. Estaba más despierta que búho por la noche pero es que esa menopausia no la deja dormir. Al final, aprovechando que iba a hacer su torta de cumpleaños en la casa de un vecino que nos prestaría su horno, en el mismo bolso dónde llevaría los ingredientes metí las cosas para su sorpresa y de esa manera logré prepararle su detalle especial para su cumpleaños.
Now, with everything bought, it was time to put the gift together. The day before my mom's birthday, I waited until it was evening to prepare her gift. But people, there was no way. I stayed up until 3 a.m. waiting for that woman to fall asleep, but no. She was more awake than an owl. She was more awake than an owl at night, but that menopause does not let her sleep. In the end, taking advantage of the fact that I was going to make her birthday cake at the house of a neighbor who would lend us his oven, in the same bag where I would carry the ingredients I put the things for her surprise and that way I managed to prepare her special detail for her birthday.
Esperamos que fuera de noche para entregarle su regalo. Ella no sospechaba absolutamente nada, pensaba que solo tendría una torta y ya, y eso es lo que lo hacía más emocionante. Cuando le entregué su obsequio y , su cara de sorpresa no tenía precio
We waited until it was dark to give her her present. She didn't suspect a thing, she thought she would just get a cake and that's what made it more exciting. When I handed her her gift and , her surprised face was priceless!
Y déjenme decirles que su regalo la hizo muy feliz. Y no hay nada más lindo que darle algo a alguien y ver su cara de alegría. Hace que todo el esfuerzo haya valido completamente la pena.
And let me tell you, her gift made her very happy. And there's nothing nicer than giving someone something and seeing their joyful face. It makes all the effort completely worth it.
Si a un día del día de las madres aún no han sabido que darle o tienen el regalo pero no saben cómo presentarlo, aquí les dejo la foto de lo que fué el obsequio de mi mamá luego de que lo abrió para que tengan una idea. Es una cajita de madera, también podrían usar una de zapatos y decorarla. En el fondo coloque papel liso y luego pique muchos pedazos de papel crepé en tiras para crear una especie de cama para los productos y luego lo ate con una cinta como presentación. Al final lo envolví todo con papel brillante porque le había comprado también unos globitos y no sabía cómo ponerlos y que quedarán levantados. Es algo simple pero que se ve muy lindo.
If one day before Mother's Day you still don't know what to give her or you have the gift but don't know how to present it, here is a picture of what my mom's gift was after she opened it so you can have an idea. It is a little wooden box, you could also use a shoe box and decorate it. In the bottom I put plain paper and then I cut many pieces of crepe paper in strips to create a kind of bed for the products and then I tied it with a ribbon as a presentation. At the end I wrapped it all with shiny paper because I had also bought some balloons and I didn't know how to put them and make them stand up. It's something simple but it looks very nice.
