El síndrome de dificultad respiratoria aguda abreviado en el área clínica como SDR, es un tipo de insuficiencia respiratoria pulmonar, su causa es diversa, es decir que exisen diversos trastornos que pueden generar un síndrome de dificultad respiratoria.
The acute respiratory distress syndrome abbreviated in the clinical area as RDS, is a type of pulmonary respiratory failure, its cause is diverse, that is, there are various disorders that can generate a respiratory distress syndrome.
Los pacientes que padecen de éste síndrome son considerados como una emergencia médica en donde se deben atender de forma inmediata. El síndrome se puede presentar a cualquier edad en personas que padecen anteriormente una patología en pulmones o también con pulmones previamente normales.
Patients suffering from this syndrome are considered a medical emergency where they must be treated immediately. The syndrome can occur at any age in people who previously have a pathology in the lungs or also with previously normal lungs.
El síndrome se divide en tres categorías las cuales se califican según el nivel de oxígeno que se encuentre en sangre, esto puede ir de leve a moderado y grave.
The syndrome is divided into three categories which are classified according to the level of oxygen found in the blood, this can range from mild to moderate and severe.
Cuando una persona presenta este síndrome tendrá disnea en donde la frecuencia respiratoria comienza a aumentar con el fin de poder cumplir con el funcionamiento fisiológico, presentan cianosis y los órganos como el corazón y el cerebro pueden comenzar a fallar si no se trata rápidamente.
When a person presents this syndrome they will have dyspnea where the respiratory rate begins to increase in order to be able to comply with the physiological functioning, they present cyanosis and organs such as the heart and the brain can begin to fail if it is not treated quickly.
¿Qué causa un síndrome de dificultad respiratoria? / What Causes Respiratory Distress Syndrome?
Por lo general cuando una persona presenta este síndrome se debe a consecuencia de una grave infección, sin embargo pueden existir otras razones tales como la aspiración, las quemaduras, ahogamiento, lesiones torácicas, neumonía, inhalación de gases tóxicos, sepsis, ecv, convulsiones entre muchas otras causas más.
In general, when a person presents this syndrome it is due to a serious infection, however there may be other reasons such as aspiration, burns, drowning, chest injuries, pneumonia, inhalation of toxic gases, sepsis, ecv, seizures among many other causes.
Cuando ocurre el síndrome comienza la disminución de los niveles de oxígeno en sangre, por lo tanto esto puede producir el fallo en varios órganos ocasionando así una insuficiencia multiorgánica, es importante que estos pacientes se cuiden o aíslen debido a que son menos capaces de luchar contra infecciones pulmonares y tienden a desarrollar neumonía bacteriana debido a su bajo nivel del sistema inmunológico.
When the syndrome occurs, the decrease in blood oxygen levels begins, therefore this can cause failure in several organs, thus causing multi-organ failure, it is important that these patients take care of themselves or isolate themselves because they are less able to fight against lung infections and tend to develop bacterial pneumonia due to their low level of the immune system.
