Classics & Coffee - Something for the car enthusiasts

in GEMS2 years ago

Anyone whos following me long enough knows that I´m not only into traveling, photography and surfing. I´m also a big car enthusiast and already made several posts about cars and car shows. For example my posts 4 years ago about the 70th anniversary of Porsche.

Anyway, while I was at home in Stuttgart, Germany for the summer I went to one of the Car shows at the Mercedes Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The weekly event called Classics & Coffee is attracting classic car lovers from all around germany and even the surrounding countries.

This event takes place every sunday right in front of the museum and is a great way to spend a relaxing sunday with beautiful cars and the smell of petrol and oil. Although this is in front of the Mercedes museum, any kind of cars are welcome and there is no entry fee neither for visitors nor for car owners. It's not limited to classic cars either, but nobody wants to see a tesla or any other new electric car here.

Apart from many many pretty cool Mercedes Oldtimers there also were some other gems. But for the opening lets have a look at the beauties with the famous star.

If you don´t like smalltalk you better do not ask any questions. Car owners love to talk about their cars and if you ask a simple question about their car you will have to listen to a 30min monologue.

Like the older gentleman of this beautiful old Mercedes, he told us all details about his car. He has two of them by the way. He also had the famous Wackeldackel in the back. I guess only germans know about that little puppy.

I do love the old Mercedes way more than the new ones, especially the very new electric cars are ugly and I would always prefer one of these oldies. The Mercedes 190 was a must have in the 90s, especially the ones that looked a bit more sporty. Not to mention the 190 EVO, which until today is a beast.

In addition to the many mercedes, there were also a number of BMWs on display. I think that cars just had more style back then. The old 5 series BMW is just a dream, or what do you think?

While the 5 series was more for the older generation, the 3 series BMW was very popular with young braggarts. 50 laps at the train station every day just to show his car was the highlight of the day :)

Back then I did not like it but today I would love to have one.

At a car meet up in stuttgart, a very specific car should not be missing and thats the Porsche, something anyone out of Stuttgart is proud of. Its one of the few reason I love that city for as it is my dream car and in my eyes the best sports car. Spotting a Porsche in Stuttgart is like spotting animals at a Zoo.

And of course my absolute dream car showed up as well. For me this is the most beautiful Porsche ever made. Unfortunately it wasn´t the Turbo but a Targa. If you want a 993 Turbo in good shape you won´t find one below 6 figures, some cost as much as 500.000 Euro.

Whenever the re is a car show there are always muscle cars showing up. I guess the american muscle car is the epitome of an auto show and should therefore not be missing.

One American Classic muscle car everyone knows. The Ford Mustang.

After all these cars I showed you that you can see on almost any car meet up lets have a look at the not so common cars, the cars you do not see every day. A classic Morgan, a Ferrari Testarossa, some Borgwards, Datsun 280z, Lancia Delta (Dream Car) and last but not least a super cool VW Beetle with Porsche rims and most likely a Porsche engine. I haven´t seen the owner so I´m not sure but the car looked suspicious.

Oh I almost forgot something. At the moment you can have a look at a very special Mercedes without even paying entry fee to the Museum. They have a Project One AMG standing in the Entrance hall that looks absolutely unreal.

Thanks for showing us the old cars 👍

No worries. I knew you would love them as well :)

I've seen some really nice Mercs in Sindelfingen at some arena or something about six years ago. Some of them were for sale and the prices seemed too spicy, but when you look at these now you realize these were bargains.

That must have been Motorworld https://motorworld.de/region-stuttgart/

Yes, these classic cars as well as the super sportscars hold their value quite good. Almost better than our cryptos :)

If you would have bought one of these Porsche 993 10 years ago you would have made profit.

Yes, Motorworld it is.

Been there twice, some awesome cars in there. Last time I saw a Ferrari F40. Anyway, I stick to crypto :)
