Pencil skirt is one of the smartest skirt. Mostly worn by official workers. Goes well with smart looks and you can rock it with any type of blouse.
I will be explaining the drafting process of a pencil skirt, it can help to understand and you can use it to construct yours. It's actually one of the simplest and fastest skirt to make.
BODY MEASUREMENTS
Waist circumference
Hip circumference
Empire line
Skirt length
DRAFTING PROCESS
first fold your fabric into two, using the biggest part of your body measurements divided by 4 plus 2inches as the width of the folding
take ur waist measurement at the top( note that all circumference measurements are divided 4, this is because we are only drafting for a quarter of the body)
measure you waist to hip measurements also called empire line, it help figure out where the hip line stays
measure the hip circumference divided by for on the hip line, and connect waist to hip with a slight curve
measure your skirt lenght from the waist, and mark.
Connect lines and add your sewing allowance. All through except the folded part( not more than an inche). The front pattern is used to cut the back pattern, the only difference is the zipper allowance as shown below
Add seam allowance and cut out.
Also, cut out a waist band of 1.5 inches wide, the length depends on the waist circumference.
