Moon Karts isn’t just about fast karts and tight turns—it’s built on a well-engineered rewards system that incentivises skill, persistence, and investment. As someone who’s studied their model closely, here’s how it works and how you can get ahead.
At its core, Moon Karts rewards four pillars: skill, time, NFT quality, and staked governance tokens (COLONY). If you excel in racing, invest hours into gameplay, use strong NFTs, and stake COLONY, you’ll see far greater rewards than someone missing in any of those areas.
How the Reward System is Structured
Every day a fixed supply of COLONY tokens enters the Moon Karts ecosystem. These are split among several “pools”:
- Orbitals Pool (40%) – for collecting Orbitals in races, winning, and finishing with them. Your performance here depends heavily on your load-out: better driver, kart, and parts = more Orbitals.
- Ranking Pool (25%) – for leaderboard performance (both daily and seasonal)
- Race Track Tokens (10%) – COLONY tokens placed on the track that you can pick up during a race—and only valuable if you finish the race with them still in your possession.
- Referral Pool (5%) – for bringing in paying new players.
- Seasonal Pool (20%) – aggregated over each 10-day season for top performers on the leaderboards.
Other Key Opportunities & Rules
- Earning via racing: you can obtain rewards by picking up COLONY on track, rising in ELO ranking, and collecting Orbitals. Each of these depends on race wins, finishing cleanly, and your gear.
- Referral program: share your invite link; when someone joins and spends at least US$20 in the store, you earn referral points. More purchases by that person get more points. Rewards from the referral pool are distributed proportional to referral points.
- Daily caps: to avoid abuse, there are limits. An account cannot receive more than 0.5% of the total Rewards Pool or more than 10% of the Referral Pool in a single day. Unclaimed rewards roll over.
- Moon Domes are on the roadmap: owning one means you’ll get 10% of tokens from any race held there.
