SO FAR, YET SO CLOSE

in GEMSlast year

IMG_3153.jpeg
I have been home in Guatemala for just less than a month. I had to come back to work on the building of our home. After renting our hotel we became homeless in a good kind of way, and so have been roaming the planet enjoying a break after many years of work. Our kids are at a perfect age from traveling, old enough to remember and young enough to still enjoy doing things and spending time with their parents. So this last year has been a real blessing.
But a month a way feels just too long. 2 weeks away feels nice, the 3rd week the missing really creeps in and by the 4th week it just starts to Pang.
So it was with excitement that i arrived at the Aurora Airport in Guatemala City.
They had a glass divider just pre bag x-rays, people from all over the world put there stickers here. So i found a gap and put a @worldmappin sticker

and a @skatehive sticker. Given to me by @knowhow92 (im so bad, i still need to catch up on my back posts and share our hive meetup adventure of visiting him in his hometown Ioannina, Greece)

Off i went, inside a metal bird to the land of Florida.

I stopped in to see my Mom and Dad who were visiting my Grandma in Florida. Grandma is 94 now. Got a chance to catch up with several aunts and uncles and cousins in my short visit. Always nice to have catch up time with the family tree. 😎

I’m not sure if many out there are familiar with Men’s Work. But i have been involved with various Men’s circles over the last 10 years. For me, Men’s Circles have been an opportunity for to be vulnerable, anuthentic and to hold space for each other. It has been invaluable for me and my growth as a human. I have been part of an online Men’s circles that meets every second Tuesday for nearly 4 years. We are each from different corners of the world, and i have become very close with many of the Men in this group, yet I’ve never met most of them in real life. Well i realized i was going to be close to one of these fine gentlemen and so i arranged an in person meet up. This was my First time meeting Brad, though it felt like meeting up with an old friend. Another blessing to be counted!

Then it was the long slog across the transatlantic to the Family in ol’Blighty
Landing in Gatwick,UK and off to Portsmouth to see the kids and Sarah.
My first day back was a surprisingly pleasant February day. So we met with Sarahs Sister and brother in law, and the cousins for a nice walk around
Staunton Country Park.
IMG_0241.jpeg

Staunton Park is located near Portsmouth in Havant, Hampshire, is a historic estate encompassing approximately 1,000 acres of beautifully landscaped parkland and forest. Established as a country park in 1987, it offers a diverse range of attractions and activities for visitors of all ages.

The estate’s origins date back to 1783 when the first house was constructed for Samuel Harrison. In 1820, Sir George Thomas Staunton, a notable botanist and politician, acquired the property and significantly enhanced the gardens, introducing features such as the ornamental lake and various follies. Over the centuries, the estate changed hands multiple times, with each owner leaving their mark on its landscape. Today, remnants of its rich history, including the Gothic Library built in 1833, still stand within the park.

Great way to stretch the legs and enjoy some nature. Found some giant cows.

IMG_0232.jpeg

We walked to the island in the middle, spotted some swans and goofed around on a classic bridge.

The fancy Manor house had been torn down, but you could still trace the original structural layout.
IMG_0233.jpeg

The entire experience was a great way to all get back together and it some how felt a very classically English experience wandering the grounds like royalty 🤣

Sort:

That is a good ole jaunt to get back to the fambo m8.
I like the wall of badges in Guatemala City, Aurora Airport.
lol, also you're spot on about a country park being a very brit day out 😂
All joking aside, me and my girlfriend love going to those types of places, partly for the history and partly for the nature that often inhabits country estates... yeah, it's much better now that 90% of them are owned by the nation trust rather than millennia old aristocratic dynasties. Everyone gets to enjoy the follies, vestibules and carp lakes now 🤣

I hope your travels continue to be so enriching buddy 👍

Yeah, it felt a bit aristocratic being there. Like we needed our horses and and duck muskets, some crumpets and tea out in the gardens!
Yeah, way better they made it public. Though i found it cheeky that they charged 4 quid to park and 3.50 for a black tea at the cafe 😳

Ha ha, the national trust do charge a bit too much for their v average food.

crumpets and tea out in the gardens!

Should have brought your own. That's what I do when we go to those types of places. bring a picnic and fck em with their expensive food stuffs. but to be honest food prices have gone through the roof in the UK since brexitt 😒

the most amazing thing about this post is that you got to england in february and it was PLEASANT day. I almost fell off my chair :p
come visit norfolk sometime, we will dine on the finest turnips

lol, yes it was a shocker for me too!
I love turnips, i almost canceled my flight to come calling!
Would be cool to have a visit someday. I tend to be in the UK every few years!
So be careful inviting me, im that guy that actually comes

i believe it
and i mean it!
the turnips await

Yummo!
Look forward to it… a turnip jam could be cool.
Speaking of a Jam… i put an entry in vibes… 🤟
You brewing any new tunes?

theres always tunes brewing, I just dont tend to feel motivated to produce them alone. I realised long ago that hive blogging wasnt my forte. I have to be part of a collective, which is why my creative product tends to be out in the community, facilitating group collaborations, dancing toe to toe with other happenstance creatives, encouraged by the smiles and cheers of genial onlookers, mandalas in the sand, blooming like orchids and fading away with the passing moment. No albums, no portfolios, no feed updates, no exhibitions, no packages, no contracts, no constructs or constraints, no trying hard, no shaping up,no cracking on or kicking off or scaling up or focusing down or planning ahead or putting it out there. Just whatever whenever baby, its all i can muster.
peace and love bro x

lol, yeah no pressure from me. Just curious. Or actually really I could have said… ‘I put out a song I’m pleased with… if you have time check it, maybe you will like too’
🤣
I thought it polite to ask you of your creative ventures at the same time.
But hey ho. I get what your getting at 🤙

haha. I just read that back...i did completely go off on a tirade there! ITs honestly just because i frustrate myself, im like 'why havnt i recorded anything and put it on hive?'.... then I have to answer myself.
I will definitely have a listen to your track :)

Quite a journey to Florida then to Great Britain! Very different climates as well... cool pictures, wouldn't call it a little journey :)

lol, true, i guess it was a long journey. Yes, i needed my bikini and my galoshes!

Happy Travels and you're right, around the 4th week is when we start getting sick of travelling and just want to be home.

Yes, it that phrase.... i need a vacation from my vacation 😎

Love that wall with all the stickers..

It's a cool thing for sure. Kinda surprised they allowed it...but great they did.

So cool man, thanks for sticking skatehive stickers on that glass, me and web-gnar are stoked here

For sure! That glass needed some gnarl!
