Seguramente hemos tenido la necesidad de construir algo y que pudiera ser de forma tangible con nuestras propias manos.
Es una actividad que requiere de paciencia pocos materiales y estímulo de la creatividad.
Surely we have had the need to build something and that could be in a tangible way with our own hands.
It is an activity that requires patience, few materials and stimulation of creativity.
En ésta oportunidad he pasado aproximadamente una hora muy amena realizando una construcción a escala. Se trató de un asta de bandera improvisada. Simulando a aquellas que han sido usadas a menudo en los campamentos scouts para rendirle honores a la bandera.
This time I spent about an hour of fun building a scale model. It was an improvised flagpole. Simulating those that have often been used in scout camps to honor the flag.

La estructura base para éste modelo de asta de bandera es un trípode.
The base structure for this model of flagpole is a tripod.
Seleccionamos los tres palilos principales.
We selected the three main pallets.
Los unimos en un extremo entrelazado con pábilo por arriba y por debajo como simulando un ocho o una S varias veces.
We join them at one end interlaced with wick above and below as if simulating an eight or an S several times.
Luego fijamos la base con tres trazos de palillos cortados de un mismo tamaño.
Then we fixed the base with three strokes of chopsticks cut from the same size.
Así tendríamos la base armada.
Then we'd have the base armed.
Procedemos con el mástil, para ello uniremos dos palillos en vertical para tener un elemento lo suficientemente largo.
We proceed with the mast, for it we will join two sticks vertically to have an element long enough.
Fijamos un horizontal en la parte superior del mástil y otro en lo que sera la cara frontal del asta a dos tercios de la altura del trípode.
We fixed a horizontal on the top of the mast and another on what will be the front face of the pole at two thirds of the height of the tripod.
En la parte superior del mástil amarramos dos palillos salientes que tendrán una figura de Yee acostada. Y en su extremo ira un arnés o argolla por donde pasará la driza o cuerda que subirá la bandera.
At the top of the mast we tied two protruding sticks that will have a figure of Yee lying on them. And at its end there will be a harness or ring through which the halyard or rope that will raise the flag will pass.
Fijamos el mástil en los horizontales para luego unir los extremos de la cruz con un pabilo que servirá de tensor.
We fix the mast in the horizontal ones and then join the ends of the cross with a wick that will serve as a tensor.
Listo así terminamos de construir el asta de bandera a escala.
Ready so we can finish building the flagpole to scale.
En el movimiento scout los niños aprenden a realizar nudos, amarres y construcción a escala y de gran tamaño. De esa forma ellos mismos hacen que su estadía en un campamento sea mas amena. Pero el verdadero trasfondo de éste tipo de actividades es el valor educativo que éstas poseen ya que contribuyen al desarrollo de las dimensiones físicas del joven en cuánto a su corporalidad y capacidades motoras.
*In the scout movement, children learn to make knots, ties and large scale construction. That way they make their stay in a camp more enjoyable. But the real background of this type of activities is the educational value that they have since it contributes to the development of the physical dimensions of the young person in terms of their body and motor skills. *
