Hello everyone, This is my first post on hive. "Common Enemy" is one of my artwork which i have created during this lockdown. I have created this artwork to appreciate all the hard work done by the health and other officials to prevent further more spread of this virus. In this post, I have explained the process on how i created this artwork. So without further ado, let's get started.
First of all, I created a plane and increased its size to match the real life scale and then i created a camera and set its focal length to 22 and increased its far clip plane value. I roughly adjusted the position of the camera to have something to work with (i will readjust the camera later). After setting up the camera, I modeled the police tape and warning sign board using primitive cube. The hazmat character model that i used in this artwork was downloaded from the site https://p3dm.ru . After downloading the character model, I quickly rigged it in maya using maya's auto rig feature. I created a model of the virus and added some tower light models that i had created for my other projects. After having all the assets prepared, i arranged them to fit my composition.
After setting up the assets in my scene, I created the textures in photoshop and then applied them to the model.
After applying the textures to the models, i added some grass on the ground using MASH in maya. Then i added the displacement node to the plane and used perlin noise to make it look like swampy land. I translated the plane to +Y axis to make it look like it is covering some part of the grass. I applied the redshift standard surface with water preset to the plane. Then i added some lights and started to play around with the settings until i got the results i wanted.
Now you can see the image looks flat. So, to give it more depth, i added depth of field to the camera using redshift bokeh. After adding depth of field, i applied this image

to redshift bokeh to simulate chromatic aberration.

Now i added some volumetric fog to give it more depth and mood. I played around with the settings until i got the mood i wanted.
After playing around more with the settings, I finally rendered out the image with some AOVs (Z depth, GI, Reflections, Refractions, SSS ).

Afterwards, I took all the passes to photoshop and composited them together.

This is the final image.

I hope i was able to walk you through the process clearly. Thanks for viewing my post, hope you enjoyed it.
Stay safe everybody.
