Welcome to the third part in this photo tour of the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. In this article photos of the various plants and trees surrounding the mansion will be displayed.

The Pittocks were collectors of hundreds of flower varieties that were originally rare, yet now flourish throughout the city, so this should be exciting.

Be sure to visit the first two articles in this three part series. In the first two articles, various photos display the interior rooms of this epic, restored historical mansion.

Near the entrance restrooms, the jasmin flowers were glowing to perfection. The cinnamon vanilla sweetness was so intoxicating, I swear I spent minutes inhaling their scents.

The building with the triangle pyramid roof is easy to recognize. That is the Koin Center, where the local news station broadcasts from.

The trees that were planted in the garden were well chosen for their ability to spread high to provide shade over courtyard lawns. They also tower over the large rhododendrons, protecting them from summer scorching temperatures.

The shade also helps many flowering plants so they do not dry out. They require less water and maintenance in this way.

This is the biggest #birch tree I have ever seen. Not even recognizable by the craggy trunk, the tree now seems ancient. Up above the younger limbs have the identifiable white paper birch bark, and the small spade-shaped serrated leaves.

Here on the pathway that circles below the back of the house is where many of the roses and rare flower varieties are grown.

Not sure what the name of these blue flowers are. The bees love them, and they grow thick along the rock walls. Amazing!

These flowers at the end of the pathway by the gardener's house were showstoppers. Variegated leaves and loads of trumpet flowers. Colors ranged between white and pink on the same bush.

The rhododendrons hedges often have gnarly twisted limbs. A well-trimmed old hedge is wide open enough to walk through them.

Wow. Loved the views. What a great time to visit too with the Spring flowers. Loved this post. The problem with visiting gardens like this is it makes me want to clean up mine 😂

Hey I'm back :) I just now started using Peakd. Great to see you are still pumping out quality posts. I followed you way back on Steemit. I would vote for the azaleas as my favorite flower. I had some on the side of my house years ago. They have always been a favorite. What a great place to visit! I love the views. Didn't expect them after the beautiful house and gardens.

Welcome back. Azaleas are one of my favorites too. Try out ecency.com if you want to compare it to peakd. I switched over to ecency because I felt peakd had too much control, preventing me and others from seeing many of the posts of people I follow.
