The situation created by the coronavirus has been new to almost everyone. You'd have to go back to some war to find the same or similar confinement. The human loss is becoming very great, and it's getting worse every day.
At first we compared it to a flu. Especially in mortality, and now we know it's ten times worse.
La situación creada por el coronavirus ha sido nueva para casi todo el mundo. Habría que retroceder hasta alguna guerra para encontrar un confinamiento igual o parecido. La pérdida humana está siendo muy grande, y cada día va a peor.
Al principio la comparábamos a una gripe. Sobretodo en la mortandad y ahora se sabe que es diez veces mayor.
Politicians play with a half-truth, thinking about the future. But it is doubtful that they will do so for the economic and social future or in the next elections. I have no doubt.
Los políticos juegan con una media verdad pensando en un futuro. Pero se duda que lo hagan por el futuro económico y social o en las próximas elecciones. Yo no tengo duda.
This country, like many others, is a country of services. We had products from our European partners that closed the doors on us at first, leaving us without the means to prevent infection. I suppose that in high places, those who make official communications without a shred of their personality but with a script, will have taken note so that this does not happen again.
Este país, como otros muchos es un país de servicios. Contábamos con productos de nuestros socios europeos que nos han cerrado las puertas a la primera, dejándonos sin los medios necesarios para prevenir la infección. Supongo que en las altas esferas, esos que hacen los comunicados oficiales sin un ápice de su personalidad sino un guión, habrán tomado nota para que no vuelva a ocurrir.
Leaving all the anger behind me, I will relax and think about what to do when all this is over. As is normal, the first and most necessary thing is for everyone to get down to work and start producing that which in our profession we know how to do because we have to build up a bankrupt world economy.
Dejando un poco atrás toda la rabia contenida, me relajaré pensando qué se puede hacer cuando todo esto acabe. Como es normal lo primero y más necesario es que todo el mundo se ponga manos a la obra y ponernos a producir eso que en nuestra profesión sabemos hacer porque nos toca levantar una economía mundial en bancarrota.
When we can, we will go out to see the family. This is the first thing we all want, to see our loved ones and to give them human warmth.
Cuando podamos, saldremos a ver la familia. Es lo primero que todos queremos, ver a nuestros seres queridos y dar calor humano.
When this is over I will lie down on the beach, making a pillow out of seaweed and enjoy the breeze and the sea.
