Imaginemos por un momento a un niño que se está iniciando en su escolaridad, en el sistema educativo venezolano, ese niño vivirá 11 años de educación formal hasta lograr conseguir un título que lo acredite para continuar en un nivel universitario. Ahora pensemos ¿Qué conocimientos va a necesitar ese niño de 6-7años para poderse desenvolver en el mundo qué tendrá de dentro de 11 años?

En el mundo cambiante de hoy son muchos los especialistas que afirman que la escuela, tal como la conocemos hoy, tiende a desaparecer. Es una idea inquietante porque la escuela es un espacio que permite el desarrollo de habilidades y competencias necesarias para la socialización e incorporación de valores para desenvolvernos en el ámbito social, de igual manera también es en la escuela donde es posible abarcar áreas de conocimientos básicos que hacen posible el desarrollo de competencias más complejas.

It is a worrying idea because school is a space that allows the development of skills and competences necessary for socialisation and the incorporation of values to develop in the social sphere, and it is also in school where it is possible to cover areas of basic knowledge that make it possible to develop more complex competences.
Se habla de la tecnología como espacio único para el aprendizaje e incluso de la sustitución del docente por robots que puedan lograr un curriculum educativo más flexible, adaptado a los cambios constantes del conocimiento y que atienda las necesidades e intereses individuales de los alumnos. Cuando leo sobre estas alternativas educativas pienso en el niño del que te hable al inicio, en su proceso evolutivo, es decir, en sus capacidades para lograr ciertos conocimientos y llego a la conclusión que estas propuestas no tienen asidero en la realidad que los procesos de aprendizaje requieren de acompañamiento, motivación externa, estímulos, entre otros aspectos.

Indudablemente que la tecnología llegó para quedarse, que los niños y adolescentes tienen que incorporarse a ella y entenderlas como lo que son: herramientas para el aprendizaje y el trabajo, sin embargo, para llegar a ello son muchos los pasos que hay que dar.
Undoubtedly, technology is here to stay, children and adolescents have to incorporate it and understand it for what it is: tools for learning and work; however, to get there, there are many steps to take.
I am convinced of one thing: formal education has to create mechanisms for updating both the way of learning and offering a range of options that lead to knowledge that is constantly updated with the realities that are generated in the social dynamics.
Este conocimiento “debe” partir de una premisa basada en la creatividad, en el desarrollo de las inteligencias múltiples y con una mirada integradora que permita tejer redes de enseñanza – aprendizaje que aborde realidades inmediatas, contextualizadas y que al mismo tiempo estén enfocadas en ese niña y niño que queremos que sean los jóvenes con las potencialidades necesarias para dar respuests a los retos personales y sociales que van a afrontar, quizás el concepto que mejor define esta premisa sea la frase del poeta José Martí “educar para la vida”.
This knowledge "must" start from a premise based on creativity, on the development of multiple intelligences and with an integrating perspective that allows us to weave teaching-learning networks that address immediate, contextualised realities and that at the same time are focused on the children we want young people to be with the necessary potential to respond to the personal and social challenges they will face. Perhaps the concept that best defines this premise is the phrase of the poet José Martí "educate for life".
