RE: Tiger - Two Ways

in GEMS4 years ago

Reminds me of my moms cat when I was little. All black with white boots so he or she was called Bootsie. Hated that cat as it was so mean and terrorized me as a toddler. My cat Friendly is probably leaving us soon and it is very sad. Told my husband that I don't want to have any new pets for a while. Just getting harder to deal with them leaving. I love your name that you chose for your cat all those years ago "Ace of Spades". 💖

We called him "Acer" for his short name. That was a tough loss for the entire family when passed.
But having pets and losing them is important for kids in the growing process, learning how to grieve is not something that most parents want their children to have to do, but it can certainly be helpful later on in life.
Shortie had a really tough time when the guinea pigs passed back a couple of years ago because those were her pets and she had raised them.

I totally agree! My daughter and son are mostly grown but have always had pets. I've always felt the same way as you said that it is important for them to experience the process and learn from it how to deal with grief. I'm having a pretty hard time dealing with Friendly's passing. She left us on Saturday. She was a good cat, family member and friend to me.
"But having pets and losing them is important for kids in the growing process, learning how to grieve is not something that most parents want their children to have to do, but it can certainly be helpful later on in life."...this could make a nice dash on the #dailydose. Just a thought.
Guinea pigs are my favorite pet. I had them growing up and have one now. When my favorite one died I cried for three days and I still think about him all these many years later. I'm sorry for Shortie's loss..💖
