Hello, friends especially foodies!
Recently both my boyfriend and i had some days off. So before having holiday with him and my mommy (a short escape to, guess where?), we went to my boyfriend's hometown, Bandar Lampung to meet his parents. It was for the first time for me to meet them so no wonder i was quite nervous. Anyway, for you to know, Lampung is a province located on the southern tip of Sumatra island still in my country, Indonesia. Bandar Lampung is the capital and largest city of the province. I live in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia and the distance between Jakarta and Lampung is around 154.2 miles. Far, isn't it? I went to Lampung once when i was a child with my late mom and it was over decades, so i was curious too about the place and how it looks like nowadays. Beside, i went there by plane but this time would be different, cause he asked me to go there by bus and ship, to make the journey a bit longer and also enjoy the scenery plus if lucky, in additional, i could see the dolphin in the ocean too.
To go to Lampung we would need bus tickets (which included the ship). We didn't buy tickets long time before because on Friday afternoon he just known that he could have some days off (even he already had applied for the days off months before) and just booked the tickets on Saturday for that Sunday departure. Now it is easier to buy the bus ticket by the application that we didn't need to buy the tickets in Gambir on Saturday. Gambir is the station name, where the buses to Lampung also pooled. Then the e-tickets already bought by my boyfriend in the apps on Saturday morning, Lampung there we go!
Woke up in the morning and everything already set up. After my boyfriend reached my mommy's house then we had our breakfast together. Ours was the same identic croissant sandwich, so i just took a picture of mine.
It had sliced cheese, bacon and some vegetables, it was made by my mommy and it was so tasty. After had it, we were ready for the journey.
Lucky for us that day we went to Gambir earlier because there were some traffic jams near it, because there was a marathon started there that Sunday. Well, this is Gambir, the train station in Central Jakarta.
Inside it was modern and cleaner than my last visit there. It had lots of food and beverage stores (made me regret to bring food from home, haha).
And if you want to support small f&b business, it had a food court on a corner.
After had arrived and strolled, we decided to have morning coffee, we took a photo on our way to the bus pool.
Well look at what we brought, it was excluded our two backpacks and my handbag.
Many, huh! To make it simpler, i used mommy's luggage for the journey and my boyfriend also put his clothes in it.
Near the buses parked, there was an open building which used as the bus stop. We should print the tickets on the locket before entering the waiting area. Here how it looked like
The waiting room is simple. It has no air conditioners but has some fans on its' ceiling. Quite full with customers when we came, fortunately we still had a chance to sit on the blue soft chairs with the back cause mostly they have long wooden-steel chair with no back.
This was my ticket. It also mentioned the area of Bandar Lampung nearest where my boyfriend's parents live.
Happy together, a nice smile of us at the waiting area before we went. Cheese!
The bus was on the pool waiting for us. The bus there were all mercedes benz. To bring me extra comfy, my boyfriend booked us the executive bus tickets. He said it would have more space for our legs.
Around 30 minutes before the departure time, the passengers allowed to put the luggages on the separated room for baggage.
Inside, the bus was clean and nice. It had soft comfy chairs, the windows completed with curtain. We could charge the phones there too.
Nice and quite large, even it also completed with a toilet for us too.
Time to go, we spent our time to watch a netflix movie by using the tablet and also sleeping. Then finally at around 12 something, our bus reached the harbour. When we arrived there, there were some ships so we had no idea of which ship our bus would enter. Could you guess which one?
Woah, you guess it correct! We entered the red ship, one by one the vehicles entering it.
Look at the view when we then finally getting off the bus in the ship. The sky was so bright that it had bright blue color with lots of that fluffy white clouds. The ocean looked calm in blue color, not windy that day. And i loved how it blended so well in my picture with the deck green color. What a view!
The ship was not too large and it had some decks.
I really enjoyed the view that time, so pretty and it was taking my breathe. Well, you must come and see it yourselves!
Time to have our lunch in the ship. Mom already prepared us two boxes of rice with simple dish. But we needed to find the proper place to have our lunch, the outdoor free area were full so we needed to find the executive area which had air conditioners and needed an extra pay. We then opened the boxes, voila here what we had that day.
Rice with fried glass noodle, chicken karaage and stirred sausage. They had savory and sweet flavour, so complete.
Yummy lunch at the ship, finally!
After having lunch we went outside the room to find some fresh air and enjoyed the scenery again. Could you see the other ship left behind?
The scenery was awesome and incredible, right?
We then went back again to the executive area to have our nap but not a long time there was an announcement that we already reached Sumatra island.
Wow it was so fast, just an hour in the ship (my boyfriend said it was faster than usually). From the harbour it took time until we finally reached the Tanjung Karang area of Bandar Lampung at around 4.30 pm.
It scheduled to arrive at around 6 pm and then it was one and a half hour faster to arrive which was great. The weather was so nice, sunny with not much windy that made it perfect to go there by ship even i didn't get the bonus to meet the dolphins. The bus ticket for a person costed 320K IDR or around almost 20 USD made it affordable and comfortable to go to Lampung from Jakarta. All of you should try the same way if you want to go to Lampung. Well, in my next article i would tell you about my culinary experience there (not much but it was amazing) so stay tune!
