There are broadly two types of users in social media. One who has certain interests, passion, skills and a desire to nurture through a social media platform. Such people in Hive should first check the Trending Communities and ascertain which community is the best fit for their social role, which can also be rewarding alongside the passion. You will definitely find one or more communities from the trending list. This is a kind of forward integration for a social user with their passion finding a way to monetize in Hive blockchain.

The second category of social users is primarily driven by monetary motivation. So they will choose that community which rewards more. After that only they will check further what type of contents are catered by that community. Then they train themselves to make themselves the best fit for the community so that they can earn a reward. This is a kind of backward integration for a social user where monetary motivation becomes a catalyst for someone to develop social skills.

Hive is a community-driven decentralized social platform that inset an array of sub-communities. As the question asked is which communities in Hive are highly rewarding, we will get into that, check & analyze which are the most rewarding communities in Hive.

Check the list of Trending communities-- https://hive.blog/trending

Every community has certain criteria, rules. Based on that you should contribute to a community as a social user. Some of the communities are general and accepts all kind of contents, while others are very specific. For example, gaming, finance, vlogs, travel, etc. So you must check before you post something in a community. You can check the info by clicking on any of the community, it will display the brief info for you. The general impression is that if you produce original, creative content, you will be rewarded.

Now let's get into the data of the top 12 communities of Hive and put them in a tabular form for further analysis.

Before we get into the comparison we must explore a methodology to identify highly rewarding communities. In general, the communities having a large number of subscribers can be considered popular. Such a community might attract the attention of the users in Hive. Such a community may be a general category community that accepts all types of contents. But that may or may not necessarily mean a "highly rewarding community".

Even though a huge number of subscribers, whales supporting and curating that community, do not necessarily establish a community as a highly rewarding community.

ds001.png

As the data is plotted in this chart, the absolute large gap between the communities in terms of subscribers, active posters, rewards, etc is quite visible. The chart looks very skew and these are the top 12 communities in Hive.

In terms of rewards, subscribers, active posters, etc. GEMS stands out as a community. OCD comes the next. Not surprisingly, GEMS and OCD are general category communities whereas the rest are oriented around a particular/specific category of content. Therefore, it may not be appropriate to gauge a highly rewarding community in terms of rewards and nos of subscribers, active posters, etc.

If not adequate & appropriate, a relatively accurate way to gauge a highly rewarding community in Hive should be on the basis of per capita reward in that community.

So let's get into the per capita reward comparison of the top 12 communities of Hive.

ds002.png

In terms of "per capita reward" HIVE CN stands out as a community with only 114 active posters. The per capita reward in HIVE CN is $18.649. MINI.TOPIA comes the next with $11.802 per capita reward. Interestingly the top 2 communities happen to be Chinese and Korean communities that accept content in ZH and KR language only.

HIVE GAMING is sitting at third place with per capita reward as $9.911. But it's sitting at the top in terms of the English language community.

GEMS is positioned at the 4th place with $9.689 per capita reward & OCD at the fifth spot with $7.562 per capita reward.

In terms of English language-community, Hive Gaming and GEMS are very close with per capita reward figures $9.911 and $9.689 respectively. GEMS being a general category community and supporting English as well as other languages, I find GEMS as the highly rewarding community, despite being the second(in per capita reward) in the English language community.

In this analysis, I have considered a community that has at least 100 subscribers. Otherwise, it won't lead us to a meaningful comparison.

Meh...
Having few all round-general communities that are rewarding; and bunch of non-rewarding or low-rewarding(compared to these general communities) is basically the same thing as we had before the communities. :)

Majority of posts are being written in general topics, instead of narrowly specified topics... So, social aspect as well as engagement is still way off; when people start posting (or curating) in other communities that will be interesting effect.
So far we have founders and maybe a person or two writing in small communities; and everyone else writing in these 10.

Anyways, just my two cents. :)

That is why I have indicated the aspects of a social user and categorized them at the beginning of the post. So far people are guided primarily by monetary motivation. That is why the engagement is missing. Because they see reward by investing time & effort in posts more than in a comment, that is also the reason some of the curators have taken initiatives to make the engagement better. I hope, in time, it will get better as we become more and more mainstream.

More number of people in community also bring natural intersection and engagement better. But in a monetized community, its still a complex task as long as the reward is the primary motivation.

Interesing reading, until very recently Gems was my go to but lately I have found myself using OCD more often. I don't really know why that has come about but I was finding a lot of post on Gems in Spanish and being a non speaker this could be why. I will have to try using both more and see which give the best results. For me its not all about the payouts nice as they are but I find I get a bit more interaction on OCD.

GEMS and OCD are go to communities for most of users, I think. In General category these are the top two communities.

Yes certainly for me I get more hits on my posts in these two communities. I also use black and white quite a bit for their Monomad competition, thanks. Be safe

I think you haven’t know @project.hope community where everyone is rewarded

I am aware of that community called project.hope. Perhaps you did not read the article, this data is taken from top 12 trending communities. At the time of writing this article project.hope was featuring in the top 12.

Furthermore, it is not about where "everyone is rewarded or not", rather more about maximum"per capita reward". GEMS is very rare community which tops both in terms of "per capita reward" as well as "number of active posters". It is also one which accepts English as well as other languages.

Thanks for the review @divine-sound. #gems and #powerhousecreatives are 2 of the ones I use the most because they give rewards. Now I wonder, And what about the community in Spanish? I understand that they are referring to the communities in English, China and Koreana, but the community in Spanish is large and I would like to have an analysis done as I cannot find a suitable one to place on my labels to get rewards.

I took the data from trending communities at the time of writing the article. In trending communities, the sequence is generally based on the total pending reward, which is also kept on changing. As you know GEMS accepts other languages too apart from English, it gets bigger both in terms of active posters as well as per capita reward. Thank you so much for stopping by.
