RE: Wednesday Walk Around the Block

in GEMS5 years ago

Thank you! Those are the ones I planted! I have too many in my yard and at the Shore House, and after planting some along the back roads I decided that ponds here are lacking in the florals. I put some yarrow there yesterday. Just needed something that has a will to live, even when ignored.

I planted a whole field of clover at the shore, and you should see the bunnies it attracts! :)) I go to the feed store and they will make up any kind of seed you want to plant. I thought it was pretty cool the first time I did it. I remember my father doing that. I like the clover flowers and bee balm and... and... and... the flowers taste pretty good. The bees love them too and we need to keep our bees happy! I do think that people are not using the poisons that they had been. Time has shown the damage caused by this and hopefully, we have learned.

The pinecone looks somewhat like verdigri.... right?

Yes! That is an absolutely artistic way to put it. As you can tell, I have no art skills or I may have picked that up myself! Thanks always for stopping by and leaving your words and, the religious upvotes that I see from you. XO

Enjoy your day! Stay safe!

That is lovely that you plant randomly around for the enjoyment of many.

As a child, when there were many clover patches throughout neighborhood yards, it felt so nice on my feet to walk in them. I lived at an apartment some years back and some clovers were growing behind it. A few times I had walked out barefooted and enjoyed trampling it a little....LOL.... not meaning too, but ... you know. Anyway, all of the sudden one day, the landscape folks came along, spraying and spraying and within a few days, all the patches of clover were just dead brown spots. 😡 Those ugly brown spots were there all summer as they did not reseed till late fall. Ugly ! Ugly ! Ugly ! ....all summer. Ugh !

It should be against some kind of law !!

Ugh! They killed perfectly beautiful clover because the brown was prettier? How gauche of them! Seriously, I cannot see how that could have been better, but, I do realize why they did it. You cannot seed over poison, so you have to let the ground rest for a period of time or it would kill the new seed. Shouldn't that have spoken to them??

I do remember how nice clover feels. :)) We had it in our yard growing up. It was green, and it had those pretty little flowers, so it was a shoo-in! I have a small bit of clover and I frequently go barefoot in my yard. I do trample it, but, it springs back up later on. You cannot keep a good clover down!

I almost always have a five-gallon bucket and a shovel in my vehicle. You just never know when you might need one.

Thanks so much, El! I hope you are having a great day!

As a child though, I was no respecter of bees and because I got stung now and then, walking in the clovers was risky and had to be carefully looked over before jumping in. Many a bee perished because they couldn't be trusted with tiny feet. Little did we know......way too little.

LOL You really tickle my funny bone! Thank God you don't sting!
