Plagiarism is an insult to content creators

in GEMS4 years ago

The constant reminder I got from a friend while joining hive was "never plagiarized". "I can never do so" I always tell him. I strongly believe one of the reasons why users gain reward on hive is for the content they create. It's then a fraud claiming another's earning for yours without a proper referencing or acknowledgement.

When we copy the works of others , somehow we believe lowly of ourselves to be creative or can grow to a stage were we could be better. Starting poorly is no wrong, no one was born with a penmanship skills. Great authors we read from today started out small and then gradually developed in their writing skill with time and experience from various failure.

I consider plagiarism as an insult to those who claim to be content writers or creators. Insult to that ability that has been suppressed in fear, insult to have thought lowly of yourself, insult to want to gain gratification of others. It could be discouraging starting out anew in writing, sometimes we feel like quiting, other times our zeal depreciating and decline to a zero level. we put in our best, yet gain no tangible appreciation but the good news is, if we take our eyes off the reward that we consider an encouragement, we could come to the realization that , though we gain no tangible reward, we grow each passing day.

Growing as a content creator start with accepting ourselves and the desire to learn from our failures and others.

Sometimes ago, a friend asked me "what should I write, am not good in writing" my response was "Writing is all about penning down what you feel and how you feel it". You mustn't be a good writer to start, all that's needed is your ability to write down what you feel and how you feel it. Thank God for hive as a decentralized blockchain offering freedom of speech.

Plagiarism is an insult if a content creator doesn't find confidence in who he is, is an insult when you feel other person's work could draw you the attention you need.

My message to you is: Be real, that's all it takes to be a good content creator.

If you can't write your own content then you will never be writer. Even the top authors have spend many years failing and improving to get to the point where they are now.

Unless you keep trying you wont improve and trying to take a shortcut by stealing another persons work is short sighted and hurts your own ability. You might gain some short term monetary rewards but you will lose in the long term on your reputation and your abilities.

Rightly said. Thank you for the contribution
