A Walk Around Padley Gorge to the Longshaw Estate, Derbyshire

in GEMS2 years ago

The weather couldn't make it's mind up as to what it wanted to do. We had black clouds, blue sky and a bit of sun, depending on where you looked. Typical british weather.

We had a walk starting at Padley Gorge, which people say is like walking through an enchanted forest. I agree with that, especially in autumn.

Padley Gorge is just 1/2 mile from the Longshaw Estate. You can return again and again to the Estate as there's 1,600 acres of land to explore and enjoy the spectacular views of the countryside.

There are many paths and different walks to try out. The area is nice and flat, so you can do easy walks or go further afield for more taxing walks.

There are a few abandoned millstones in the area. Some were used for grinding flour in the mills but some were used for sharpening steel.

At the end of our walk we stopped for a drink and a pie at the Longshaw Cafe before heading back home.

Thank you @celf.magazine. It's very much appreciated.

Wow! Very beautiful countryside walk! Love to go there myself one day! Such colours and ambience!

It just needs to be a bit warmer now. Bring on the Spring!
