People don't want to admit that the time is in more control of their life than their own actions. We assume that we can do anything. The thing is that often we are limited by time and the money. And large part of the life we are seeing the time controlling most of our actions and the future direction.
Nobody wants to admit that they are not in control of their life. They think they can do anything. But they are limited by the ageing, health, diseases, money, politics, religion etc. A lot of variables time can put in front of you to stop enjoying the life and it can take your focus away from those things in your life.

Are we in control of our life?
We can't go on world tour if we don't have the money, health and the age in our favor. A lot of people think they have control but they don't. Try going into the travel when you are suffering from stomach issues or breathing issues. You will realize why you are not in control.
Who is in control of life in that case?
None of us have control of our life other than specific few actions which we can work on. Like basic survival and also socially adjusting with each other for the survival. You would see that most of the time other variables than our own actions govern a lot of our life.
Who is in control?
Time. Time is always in control of this entire universe. Some people say that time is human construct and it does not exist. But then again if that is true then that would make going back in past easy and also manipulating the time would be even easier as that would create variant of small universes in itself. Yeah sounds fiction? If so then time does exist and it moves forward isn't it?
Conclusion
Life is complicated and we make it even more complicated by assuming we are in control. In reality we are not in control and there is nothing about life we can do much about.
So in short, time is everything. And there is nothing we can do about it.
