Too Many Things at Same Time

in GEMS3 years ago

People have this misconception that multi tasking can be achieved. In reality, there is no such thing as multi tasking unless you are a robot or computer. Even then only one task is efficiently processed and other tasks always stay in background while one takes the most resource.

In our daily life we are pushing our own selves too much and too extreme that we assume we are doing too many things and that would lead to multi tasking. In reality we are just burning ourselves out. As we don't do one thing right and try to spread our work across other people.

Why we should not work on too many things at same time?

When we work on too many things at the same time, we end up causing only ripple instead of getting a big splash out of the work. And that leads to more of issues than the solution itself.

  1. You end up doing the task half heartedly.
  2. You don't realize how much value the actual results cost.
  3. Your results are often skewed from the focused results.
  4. You don't understand how to do knowledge transfer the right way.
  5. You do it for the monetary gains out of the work.
  6. You become invasive and half hearted in the due process.

A lot of things change you in that and you don't really love the work and the process of the things. And that leads to boredom and laziness. And that is why doing and knowing too many things can be bad if you try to do that at a time. The point here is avoiding doing too many parallel things be it thoughts or actions.

Conclusion

Multi -tasking can be good if there are delegation and the outsourcing part is involved. But a single person trying to do too many things would end up burning out and may experience more or less of mental health issues like anxiety, burnout and even the depression.

Use the single tasking and focused work and schedule it so that you can get more work done and do it better too.

So do you work on too many things at a same time? Or you do focused work?
